Every Day Carry, or EDC, as the name implies, are the things you carry every day. Car keys, wallet, etc. From a preparedness perspective however, your EDC may be all you have available in an emergency situation or all that you have to help get you home.

You must live in Maryland like I do.

Not Maryland, California, just as bad.

You’re welcome. Just looked and I’ve got a Gerber in there too.

I suppose an inventory is in order. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Great list. But even with 6 liters of water it can't hurt to have a couple of Lifestraws. They will fit anywhere and can filter over 200 gallons of water.

Around town I carry an lcp and a wallet. On my 6 mile walk, a spare mag, assorted lighters and matches for the occasional traveler I run into, bandaids, Purel, Leatherman Wave, Kimber Pepper Blaster and sassafras cane with brass horse hame handle, lens cleaner, tissues, utensil tool, liter of water, sardines. All the loose stuff is in a Maxpedition Jumbo. More than anything, from experience, the sassafras stick seems to encourage dog walkers and cyclists to stay away from me.

lighter and/or matches
small flashlight
compass
Have a map. (GPS may be dead); by map, I mean an atlas of the whole damn country. You can keep it in the car with the radio you have for the same purpose.
At least 2 knives (a small one to use as a tool and a big black one for show).

When I was working, at the front door I'd do what I called my 'Preflight check' pat-down to confirm the presence of the following:

Wallet--keep ±$300--for buying opportunities! ;) Also pocket change
Keys
Watch
Phone
Inhaler
Cigs/lighter [shaddup] ;)
Lunch

As I've retired, same drill, but no lunch or cigs. Tasty cigars are occasionally permitted.

EDC Knife, Emerson Combat Karambit with wave feature, faster than a switchblade getting into action.

I put it in pocket, when pulled out of pocket its open already and being wielded to cut in one motion.
