Something is going on, some tectonic plates are moving in interesting ways. My friend Cesar works the deli counter at my neighborhood grocery store. He is Dominican, an immigrant, early 50s, and listens most mornings to a local Hispanic radio station, La Mega, on 97.9 FM. Their morning show is the popular “El Vacilón de la Mañana,” and after the first GOP debate, Cesar told me, they opened the lines to call-ins, asking listeners (mostly Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican) for their impressions. More than half called in to say they were for Mr. Trump. Their praise, Cesar told me a few weeks ago, dumbfounded the hosts. I later spoke to one of them, who identified himself as D.J. New Era. He backed Cesar’s story. “We were very surprised,” at the Trump support, he said. Why? “It’s a Latin-based market!”
“He’s the man,” Cesar said of Mr. Trump. This week I went by and Cesar told me that after Mr. Trump threw Univision’s well-known anchor and immigration activist, Jorge Ramos, out of an Iowa news conference on Tuesday evening, the “El Vacilón” hosts again threw open the phone lines the following morning and were again surprised that the majority of callers backed not Mr. Ramos but Mr. Trump. Cesar, who I should probably note sees me, I sense, as a very nice establishment person who needs to get with the new reality, was delighted.
I said: Cesar, you’re supposed to be offended by Trump, he said Mexico is sending over criminals, he has been unfriendly, you’re an immigrant. Cesar shook his head: No, you have it wrong. Immigrants, he said, don’t like illegal immigration, and they’re with Mr. Trump on anchor babies.

This matches what I already know from American Hispanics in Texas. They don’t want drug lords and South American gangs in Texas or the US. They want a strong economy so they can go back to making money. A lot are small business men. Texas-American all the way.
We taught civics in the Texas curriculum for public schools until recently when common core was pushed by the Left. So most of our Texans know about the constitution’s freedoms, government power structure and the rule of law. We had little race baiting of freedom which for everyone and for everyone to protect.
Asians are pretty Christian and conservative here, too, due to their education about the constitution and freedom’s way of life and responsibilities.
Our newer immigrants know nothing but giveme in any way necessary. If you want to live on welfare and are illegal, you don’t stay in Texas. If you want to do crime and live in Texas, that is more dangerous than in the Nations you came from. Most Texans can and will shoot you. That is why Mexico want to ban guns...they can’t take over Texas socially and politically, yet.
Machismo. Same reason Ahh-nold was popular with many California Hispanics when he ran against Gray Davis in the recall election.

Oh, and those illegal Irish in NYC still bash America at every opportunity! Possibly the most ungrateful of all illegals.
This is one of the most encouraging columns I have read in a long, long time. I’ve plastered it all over the Net somewhat reluctantly as pieces like this often have a tendency to cause folks to believe that THEY are no longer required in the battle because, to borrow an aviation phrase related to autopilots, a “Let George do it” attitude sets in as it becomes known that there others who can carry YOUR load. PLEASE DON’T LET THAT HAPPEN TO YOU! If you are as angry as I am (PISSED is more accurate) about where these alleged “progressive” elitist imbeciles have driven this country, STAY IN THE FIGHT. In fact, don’t just keep doing what you have been doing — REDOUBLE THOSE EFFORTS. We can’t afford to just defeat these people; we must drive them so deep underground that it will take a century or more for them to dig out and again cause these same problems for future generations! That would be YOUR grand kids and following.
As usual, Peggy provides much insight and food for thought. If your time is limited, just read the last 6 or 7 paragraphs.

The same station took calls after Trump threw out Jorge Ramos, and again a majority of the callers supported Trump. Again, teh hosts were surprised.

Peggy, get with the program. Anchor babies is non-PC and should not be used. The preferred PC term is grappling fetus.
I finally read it on the wsj site.
Yeah, even though peggy highlights trump supporters, she ultimately insults them when she says the elites have no faith in the people, namely, the growing majority of people who favor Trump.
It’s “fetal grappling hooks”.
