Trump on success: 'It's a movement'

Donald Trump, White House hopeful and Republican leader of the pack for president, said in a telephone interview on Friday’s edition of “Morning Joe” on MSNBC that his success with poll numbers shows the country is going through a massive change, the magnitude of which some say has never before been seen.

He made the remarks in answer to a question from one of the panelists who spoke of Trump’s unpopularity with many of the so-called establishment Republicans, like pundits George Will and Charles Krauthammer, and whether he could win the nomination without such support. And Trump’s response?

First, he declined to criticize Will and Krauthammer. But then he said a lot of his naysayers have actually come around to his side in recent weeks – and many say his campaign is actually more like a movement than a political run for office.

“A lot of them have come a long way. A lot of the pundits who said, ‘oh, he’s just kidding’ … have come a long way,” Trump said, speaking of those in the media who once derided his campaign, but now don’t. “I tell you, there’s a movement [going on]. I call it a movement, I think it’s a very, very strong movement and a lot of people are seeing it.”

Just this week, a Quinnipiac University poll showed Trump at 28 percent, up from 20 percent since July 30 – the clear leader of the GOP list of candidates, as WND reported. And that’s despite a concerted effort of many in the Republican ranks to double down on their insistence Trump won’t be the GOP nominee, and of many in the mainstream media to paint him as a racist or bigot for his views on immigration.

Yet his staying power isn’t just stabilizing – it’s growing...

First, he declined to criticize Will and Krauthammer.

There's another major change toward acting presidential.

I actually read Peggy Noona today... she made a great point. “... that political professionals are going to have to rethink “the base,” reimagine it when they see it in their minds.”

Trump is masterfully turning the tables on “Political Correctness”. The power of political correctness has been the fact that it is a form of “Legitimized Bullying” for the purpose of herding people into “Proper beliefs and thoughts”. As a result the majority live in fear of even accidentally committing a “thought crime”, and losing our bakeshop, flower shop, career etc.

I believe the main reason for Trumps popularity is that he has dared to step away from the herd and has been turning on and attacking anyone who tries to bully him back into place. Trump refuses to play by their rules. When they attack him it is he who profits, and they who are fired.

I am beginning to see a renewal of confidence in many people who have up until now been cowed into submission. I believe the media and liberal/rino overseers are beginning to sense this unrest, and are frightened.

We are living in interesting times.

And all you’ve got to do to join is to sing it the next time it comes around on the guitar.

The Trump movement could easily be considered as an extension of the Tea Party movement when began nearly a decade ago.

The base voted the Repubs control of the House in 2010. What have those Repubs done for that base? Nothing.

The base voted the Repubs control of the Senate in 2014. What have the Repubs done for that base? Nothing.

Even worse, the House and Senate Repubs have actually broken most of the promises they made to the base leading up to the 2014 election.

At least with Trump, he is not bought and paid for by big money donors, he is not bought and paid for by lobbyists, and he is not part of the Washington establishment nor the Republican elite establishment.

And the Elite Repub Establishment wonders why Trump is resonating with the voters. Go figure!

I hate to admit but, but Noonan’s column today is the best explanation of the “Trump Phenomenon” I’ve read anywhere to date.
