What if they marry before the will is written?

Even though God allowed it in the Old Testament, I believe even in His eyes marriage is really supposed to be something between one man and one woman. When Abraham took Hagar as a wife and she bore Ishmael, we could see the jealousy and resentment that came about from Sarah, and it was at her urging that Abraham go in to Hagar to begin with. Similarly we saw this competition and some harsh feelings between the sisters Leah and Rachel to see who could give Jacob more sons or children, even bring their own handmaids into it as well.

I recall a story that I’ll never forget in which some African businessman was actually “sexed to death”. He had multiple wives, and favored the youngest and the prettiest. The other wives got jealous and demanded that he have sex with them, one by one. They forced themselves on him and literally killed him.

One man, one woman. I truly believe that has always been God’s ideal design. No gay marriage. No polygamy as a general rule.

Besides that, I say this as a single guy. But I always hear that one wife is torture enough. =P

The good side lost and the evil side won.

You're conceding victory to the Left? They may have won a few battles, but this war is far from over.

Has a war even been declared yet?

Did you leave out Sodom intentionally?

I think they were waiting for the furor on same sex marriage to die down, and 8 weeks did.

One wife is torture.... Not if you’re evenly yoked.

Funny, isn’t it, that it’s the committed relationship that causes problems, not the licentious and promiscuous relationship.

Adultery is "accepted" as in, accepted as human weakness and character failing. Tolerated to a certain extent, but considered illegitimate nonetheless. To take the same and legitimize it through a marriage license is a desecration of the holy covenant.

Thus beast.gov's seal of approval for sodomite "marriage" profanes and defiles the meaning of the holy covenant by forcing a perverted redefinition upon it.

The USSC's validation and defense of the lie shows us that the present government is illegitimate and given over to great delusion. It's no legitimate government that says bake the cake or be persecuted for holding fast to the truth.

Obviously I was kidding.

One wife that is truly given by God and a marriage that is of two Christians devoted to and believing in Jesus Christ is a blessing. No doubt about that.

I don’t think it matters if a will is written or not as a spouse is considered a co-owner of the marital property and exempt from paying the death tax.

No. I used Gomorrah because of Justice Bork’s book, “Slouching Towards Gomorrah.”

I concede nothing. Neither do I live in denial. I am all for continuing the war. If you haven’t noticed, 90% of the people have surrendered. But even if I am the very last one fighting, I’ll fight on. I’ll never accept it.

Hagar was taken because of doubt that Sarah could conceive. It was sin. With Jacob, he was tricked into marrying the oldest daughter first. That was sin. Then the giving of the handmaids was about competition and jealousy. Also sin. The polygamy in the OT was not God’s design. It does not seem that heterosexual polygamy was as offensive as homosexuality. It was not God’s design, but it did not bring the wrath that the other brought.

Well, the current republican leadership certainly isn't waging war with anyone. But many of us here feel we are at war.

I fully expect to one day marry all of my adult sons. There is no requirement in Justice Kennedy Marriage (JKM) for sexual attraction or contact. Since I may share half my estate with my spouse without trifling with taxes for that portion, what better way to distribute an estate among family members than by marrying them. If my kids children are old enough, I’ll marry the grandchildren too.

Humbles point is well taken. Does God inflict corporate punishment on those who are innocent? Israel struggled with this idea throughout Scripture. It’s not nearly as simple as you make it out to be.

God does sometimes punish all. While some of us did not choose it, nether did we effectively fight it.

People use the example of God promising to not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah for the sake of 10 righteous. But He was going to punish them until the request was made. Turns out there were not that many. In a deeper theological sense, no one is righteous. As Christians, we are COUNTED as righteous because of Christ’s righteousness. That does not let us off the hook here and now. I think the purpose of the Sodom and Gomorrah example was to show God’s judgment on that specific vile sin. Clearly there were other sins in the world. This was most vile. Homosexuality is an affront to God’s fundamental design of humanity. Not unforgivable for those who repent, but still.

In Romans 1 we see that the presence of it in a society is itself a judgment. It is a judgment for not acknowledging God and not being thankful, etc. So it is itself a judgment. How much more judgment we face will depend on if we repent.

Those who did not promote it are still little by little giving into it. See the boy scouts. See the various Christian schools and even churches. See the politicians who refuse to stand against it. The government will use its power to enforce submission and acceptance. Many will cave.

There is the issue of ultimate judgment of each individual. In that sense we are all guilty before God and in need of a Savior. In another sense, God is the Ruler of the Universe does punish nations and people in the here and now according to His Providence. These things overlap. We should never feel so confident that God will not choose to judge our nation just because some of us are Christian. That view puts Scriptural truths at odds with each other. They are not at odds. They overlap. We should be first concerned about our own soul but that does not mean we do not share responsibility for the actions of our government in a constitutional republic where we the people are the government.

By then, maybe NAMBLA will have helped to solve the age barrier. Maybe you can marry your unborn grandchildren. I wonder how that would affect abortion rights. Hmm, this could get complicated.
