Unbelievable footage has emerged showing an IDF soldier being beaten by Arab women and children in the village of Nabi Salah, Samaria
The video is already being seen by some as proof that the army is having its hands effectively tied, both by increasingly restrictive instructions on how to handle violent Palestinian rioters, as well as by insufficient backup from the political echelons against legal campaigns by leftist NGOs targeting IDF soldiers.

Can’t believe he refrained from shooting them. The old lady punching him in the head would have been first.

IDF soldiers should have the same rights that civilians have in most civilized areas. We need a lot more uninjured IDF soldiers, and a lot more dead thugs/terrorists, even if the terrorists are “civilians” or “Arab women and children”. Throwing rocks presents an imminent risk of death or great bodily harm, as does beating someone.
Things are going to get very ugly in that region, again, and Israel will need its military at maximum effectiveness.
I can understand the government not wanting IDF filmed shooting women and children with live rounds. But there’s always tazers and tear gas. And how about The Skunk? Where was this guy’s backup?
Our military has problems with COIN and rules of engagement, and this is unbelievable. Why was he alone????

Unbelievable! At some point one of the females was biting him... I hope the rules of engagement are changed after this video. If the Palis want to be treated like human beings, they can begin by behaving like human beings. I am in shock. If the IDF goes, what happens to Israel?

There is a lot of overwraought nonsense, verging on hysteria being posted here.———This soldier is an idiot, he should never have allowed himself to get into this undigified and stupid position.———Anyone with any experience of public order situations knows when to cut your losses, this soldier catches a rioter, it turns out his prize catch is a 10 year old boy with a broken arm, the correct course of action at that point was give the lad a good hard kick in the ass and send him home to his momma.——But no, this eeejit gets in a wrestling match with a crying kid and ends up being slapped about by a crowd of little girls and old women.————I hope his sergeant gave him a good bawling out when he got back, and I am pretty sure he is now the butt of never ending jokes in the barracks among his comrades.
Something was very amiss with this whole situation, not least of which was IDF’s ROE, which at least must make sense.

Of course I saw the video. I saw a big burly soldier making a fool of himself getting into a wrestling match with a squealing 10-year-old boy with a broken arm and who as a result of his foolishness got himself slapped about by a crowd of old women and little girls. What did I miss? His fellow soldiers must be squirming with embarrassment and the humiliation he brought to his unit.
I can’t speak about the IDF’s ROE as I am not knowledgeable enough about them, but I can say that in this specific case, this individual soldier made a fool of himself and brought shame on himself and his unit by his idiotic behaviour.
I saw a very similar occurrence back in the early 1980s when rioting of this nature (ie young boys and teenagers ineffectually throwing stones at lines of soldiers who are in the distance behind APCs and riot shields and firing CS gas, or baton rounds) was a daily event in my home town, with TV cameramen watching, hoping for the soldiers to over-react.
On this occasion I watched as the lightly equipped (like this soldier) army “snatch squad” ran out to arrest the ring-leaders. They ran out and then came back dragging a few lads along and giving them a good hiding as they did so. But shouts of anger arose from the bystanders when they saw that one of the arrested lads was about nine years old and was crying his eyes out. The arresting soldier seemed unaware of who he had until he noticed his mates shouting at him from the lines. When the soldier looked at his catch, like a good fisherman he knew it was too small, he gave the boy a good slap on the ear and let him run back.
The soldier returned empty-handed and with a shrug and a sheepish smile on his face to be greeted by good-natured jeers from his mates and actually a cheer of support from the bystanders. That was exactly the right course of action, the TV crews got a good picture of a soldier dealing humanely with a difficult situation, the boy returned to his mammy, who no doubt gave him another clip on the ear and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t too keen to get involved in rioting again.
Compare and contrast that with this stupidity from this soldier who just made himself look like a bully and a fool and gave great propaganda for the Palestinians to convince the world of the IDF’s “brutality”.
