Rowan County, Kentucky, Clerk Kim Davis releases statement [sodomite unions]
WLWT ^ | 9/1/15 | Ben Petracco

Posted on 09/01/2015 6:44:24 PM PDT by markomalley

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. —Late Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to extend the temporary stay of a federal court order involving Rowan County Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis.

The federal court previously ordered Davis to issue marriage licenses to the plaintiffs who filed suit against her.

Liberty Counsel represents Davis and appealed that order.

The lower court order was temporarily stayed until Aug. 31, but now that the Supreme Court has declined to act, the stay of the order is no longer in effect.

In light of these developments, Davis released the following statement:

I have worked in the Rowan County Clerk's office for 27 years as a Deputy Clerk and was honored to be elected as the Clerk in November 2014, and took office in January 2015. I love my job and the people of Rowan County. I have never lived any place other than Rowan County. Some people have said I should resign, but I have done my job well. This year we are on track to generate a surplus for the county of 1.5 million dollars.

In addition to my desire to serve the people of Rowan County, I owe my life to Jesus Christ who loves me and gave His life for me. Following the death of my godly mother-in-law over four years ago, I went to church to fulfill her dying wish. There I heard a message of grace and forgiveness and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I am not perfect. No one is. But I am forgiven and I love my Lord and must be obedient to Him and to the Word of God.

I never imagined a day like this would come, where I would be asked to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage. To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God's definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience. It is not a light issue for me. It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience. I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will. To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue. It is about marriage and God's Word. It is a matter of religious liberty, which is protected under the First Amendment, the Kentucky Constitution, and in the Kentucky Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Our history is filled with accommodations for people's religious freedom and conscience. I want to continue to perform my duties, but I also am requesting what our Founders envisioned - that conscience and religious freedom would be protected. That is all I am asking. I never sought to be in this position, and I would much rather not have been placed in this position. I have received death threats from people who do not know me. I harbor nothing against them. I was elected by the people to serve as the County Clerk. I intend to continue to serve the people of Rowan County, but I cannot violate my conscience.

How Laws are Made in Modern America

by PGYanke

Step 1. Identify the social cause you wish to champion.
Step 2. Make a law the prohibits that social cause.
Step 3. Argue your case to the USSC that Step 2 law is unconstitutional.
Step 4. Law is declared unconstitutional by USSC and social cause is now mandatory.

Example 1:

Step 1. Social cause is Gays in the Military.
Step 2. Pass "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
Step 3. Go before court to argue against your own law.
Step 4. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is unconstitutional according to USSC, so now the military must accept homosexuals.

Example 2:

Step 1. Social cause is Gay Marriage.
Step 2. Pass "Defense of Marriage Act."
Step 3. Go before court to argue against DOMA.
Step 4. USSC says DOMA unconstitutional so now Gay Marriage is the law of the land.

And THAT is how laws are made in modern America. Any questions?

I doubt seriously she desires to be a martyr!

She cannot go against conscience and faith.
This is what is driving her.

“God protect this woman.”

God has no firearms that I’m aware of, maybe he wants other Christians to stand up for his word. like 100,000 people block the streets of the town.

I have a lot of “contempt” for our so called courts these days too. ALL of them. “Judges” are a farce and “lawyers” are all a bunch of buffoons.

Unfortunately, Kim Davis is the problem just as much as the homosexuals are. She’s been divorced three times and had kids with one man while married to another. Her behavior is exactly the kind of activity that led to the zero respect for marriage that then led many people to think that homosexuals marrying was a reasonable thing.

For her to now stand on religious concerns when she’s violated the hell out of the principles of the religion she claims to adhere to only hurts the cause. She’s a screaming hypocrite, not a moral paragon holding back a flood of decadence. She’s every bit as decadent and immoral as the gays are.

If a jailed murderer converted in prison, there would be no justification not to release him immediately, if one were to accept that accepting *insert article of faith here* meant the sins were permanently in the past.

I can’t believe any person could possibly think that way, no matter how much faith was involved. I’d consider anyone who actually could take that seriously to be too stupid and dangerous to associate with.

If we’ve allowed conscientious objectors to avoid compulsory military service based on their sincerely held beliefs (often religious-based), then why does the same logic not apply to this case?

That’s a pantload of nonsense that deserves nothing but contempt, the creed of the rationalizing hypocrite who demands that no one else is allowed to smell the stink of their excrement. Anyone who would claim such a thing deserves to be treated like a cretin and a moron.

Here's another one Jim.

So glad to hear that, but it isn’t gonna play well if she is trying to be the poster child in defying the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage on religious grounds.

Yeah, that's what we need to do. Wait until we finally find someone without sin to stand up to the State.

Too bad that person died about 2000 years ago.

Has it really been effective? Barring intervention by the governor or the sheriff, what will happen is that she will be fined, imprisoned, and removed from office by the Federal authorities. The county will thereafter issue marriage licenses to same sex couples. She will have her "15 minutes of fame", but will thereafter be forgotten, except by conservative Christians, who are a minority of the population.

The governor of Kentucky and the sheriff of Rowan County have taken an oath to uphold the laws of Kentucky. If they refuse to interpose their authority against the Feds, they have broken their oaths of office.

More results of the happy union of the state and marriage in the modern era.

The state’s version of marriage in the modern era has always mutated based of whatever judges, pols, or the voting majority happen to think about it at any one time.

If there’s a difference, adultery is the worse of the crimes according to Biblical law. Adultery is specifically referenced in the Ten Commandments, which are the most basic and important of the laws of the Bible. It is then also listed again along with homosexuality in the laws covering sexual prohibitions. Adultery is not only a transgression against prohibited sexual behavior but also a crime against the institution of holy matrimony.
