Romney Is Horrified by Trump — and That’s Restarting ‘Mitt 2016’ Talk
New York Magazine ^ | 09/02/2015 | Gabriel Sherman

As Donald Trump continues to dominate the Republican presidential race, frustration and panic have become high enough to make some inside the party Establishment pine for a candidate they roundly rejected as recently as January: Mitt Romney. Romney himself has become one of Trump’s most vocal detractors inside the party. “He’s someone to whom civility means a lot. The whole Trump thing really bothers him,” a close Romney adviser told me — and some Romney-ites are only too happy to talk up the prospect of their man jumping into the race if the Establishment fails to stop Trump, whose support in Iowa and New Hampshire is currently greater than Jeb Bush's, Scott Walker's, Marco Rubio's, Chris Christie's, and John Kasich's combined.

“Mitt wants to run. He never stopped wanting to run,” a senior member of his 2012 team told me. Other Romney-ites, watching this cycle’s candidates falling short, feel a sense of vindication after all the attacks they endured after Romney's failed 2012 bid. "These guys like Walker and Perry, they were big deals in their states, but you get them onto the national stage and it's a different story," a former Romney adviser told me. "It's like they were in middle school, and now they're freshmen in high school and they're getting their faces slammed in the toilets." Another former Romney adviser complained about Bush's decision not to go all-in on New Hampshire, a state a moderate must win. "Romney did 100 town halls in New Hampshire from announcement to the primary. It's madness. Bush has done only 23."

In reality, the prospect of Romney jumping back into the race at this late date remains exceedingly slim — he’s made no visible signs of reassembling his political operation. But he may be able to influence the race more indirectly

It is amazing how hard the GOPe will fight against Traditional Values Red White and Blue Americans, who want to be their allies, yet fail to muster even faint resistance to commie dems and the POS POTUS who is fundamentally changing our nation.

This is war pubbies! I will not vote for your hand picked stooge!

...I worry we took Bush out too early...

Bush isn’t out of anything. No matter how much support Trump or any other candidate has at the Convention, they will not be the candidate.
The GOPe has already selected their boy, Bush. He will then go down to defeat in the general election.

Could it be Mitt, being the weak one, could not stand up to Trump in a debate?

Trump, being Trump, would pulverized Mitt and Mitt knows it...

If Mitt couldn't stand up to obuma, what gives anyone any idea he could stand up to Trump?

If Mitt has any common sense, he will stay in the back ground...unless he wants things to come out that he knows that will and won't look good...Mitt isn't any better being a Mormon than Harry Reid or Orin Hatch...

See Mitt you still have not learned ANYTHING from 2012....

Going MILK toast/Surrender Monkey to the Globalist is no way to win the conservatives over.

It would be best for the country. But look how often he has already stuck his nose in. He’s not done.

1. I know a lot of people that support Romney. Bush, not so much.

2. Romney was far ahead in the polls he was included in before he announced he was not running.

3. Romney is sharp, very competent, business-like, heavily experienced, and much more credible than any of the current establishment candidates. He is also good looking and will get a good bit of support from shallower republican women.

This is not a threat to dismiss.

All he has to do is hurt the non GOP candidate and tank as he did with Obama. Slaughtered him day 1 then balled up on the mat.

Time to flood the RNC with letters. Nominate one of these RINOS and we all stay home.

We vote for the Democrat, because apparently staying home is not sending a forceful enough message.

Has there ever been a Presidential nominee that lost an election, only to be Elected 4 or 8 years later?...

Nixon lost in 1960. Won in 1968. 9

It was talk in 10 as well. Then he got nominated and 70 million crawled over cut glass to get to a voting booth to vote FOR him.

And WE were horrified by Mitt’s handover of the presidency to Obama after bashing and exponentially outspending all republican contenders

So, there ya go.

And that’s why he got his butt handed to him in 2012. You have to fight the demon ‘Rats like a street thug or you’ll get your ass kicked.

And this is why Trump is surging. People know he will fight. This lack of "fight" is what I hated about George HW Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney.

None of them seems to realize that you have to fight the Democrats. At least Trump understands that you have to fight the Democrats.

I view him as done. Anything else is talk.

I will not be posting about this again. And I will not respond back to you again. Done.

There are still ‘informed’ people pining for him. One said last month paople like me and others that refused to vote for him should be shot. literally.

So you can guess the LIVs on the right, AKA most of them, would drop Trump in a heartbeat to get their ‘SEE WE WERE RIGHT” moment to make him president.
