I think this entire argument is pretty much moot.
I do not see much Christian support for the defendant in this case and I would hope the case is carried as far as the money will take it, but in the end, I think we all know what is going to happen here.
Only this morning I heard a self proclaimed long term Christian conservative say that Jesus guides us in this matter and that we should render to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.(paraphrased)
It appears to me that this is the majority Christian opinion even though the SCOTUS decision is seen as totally bogus and indefensible.
I would take the case as far as you can go with it, but in the end, the defendant will have a choice to make, assuming it has not been made already.
IMO, there is only one legal way to fix this, and that is the Convention of the States route.
And there is also the other way the we sometimes refer to as a active revolution. (not the passive kind)

This was the basis for the American colonies to secede from the British Empire. The provincial legislatures and local authorities resisted the demands of the crown, to the point of raising military forces to fight the royal authorities.
