President Obama stopped for a selfie with wilderness adventurer and television star Bear Grylls during his trip to Alaska on Tuesday.
A photo posted to the White House Instagram account showed the pair smiling inside Kenai Fjords National Park with an alpine glacier and gray mountainside in the background.
"Glad this was the only Bear I met in the park," read the caption, attributed to Obama.
Obama is wrapping up his three-day trip highlighting climate change. He met Grylls for an upcoming episode of his wilderness survival skills show "Running Wild."
Meanwhile, a White House petition calling for Obama to "drink his own urine while filming" the show — as Grylls has infamously done before — has more than 500 signatures.

I guess Obama must feel there is a manly gap with Putin hence the need to appear on the Bear Grylls show.

Well, there’s a show I used to watch.
He and the other global elites will be nowhere near where the bombs will fall.
They will be sitting out the carnage in the luxury of their wilderness mansions.
Heck, they may even be looking forward to it.
Let’s face it, we’re all much better off when Obama is not at his desk doing his job.
And how is this going to help Bear Grylls. I don’t think it’s going to make me reach for that Bear Grylls knife the next time I buy one, possibly not even another Gerber. I’m taking sides and your with me or against me. Disclaimer, I’ve never watched his show or bought his merchandise, I do have several Gerber knives.
Why are you asking me that question? I do know that Putin has lately been lifting weights and going down on submarines as part of some PR effort to show how manly he is. I surmised that Obama is trying to respond somehow to Putin on some level. I guess shooting a basketball isn't enough.
I had an idea why obama wanted to do it. I would think Grylls would have more to lose from the association than to gain. Some would not refuse a President but I know many that would refuse obama, tax audits and all.

President Obama has spent nearly seven grueling years running the nation, but this week he may have faced his biggest challenge yet: surviving in the Alaskan wild with Bear Grylls.
The White House announced on Monday that Obama will appear this year on the NBC show “Running Wild with Bear Grylls,” which centers around Bear Grylls, a survival expert and former British special operative, guiding celebrities through the world’s most remote locations.
Grylls has led famous actors and athletes through harsh environments, although Obama will be his most high-profile guest to date as the two take on the Alaskan wilderness – presumably with a significant Secret Service team in tow.
The episode was reportedly taped Tuesday to coincide with Obama’s visit to Alaska and as part of the White House’s ramped-up campaign to call attention to climate change.
While there’s no word on if the president will be inclined to, like many other guests of the show, eat raw fish or rappel down a cliff, the administration has hinted the POTUS’s adventure would be somewhat limited for safety reasons.
“I will not deny your suspicion that there may have been some suggestions put forward by the Bear Grylls team that were not approved by the Secret Service,” said White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest on Monday.
But that hasn’t stopped some mischievous citizens from insisting the president hone even the most stomach-turning survival skills. A petition making its way online demands that the POTUS drink his own urine, as Grylls himself has been known to occasionally demonstrate.
Grylls playfully dismissed the idea on Twitter, and with barely 400 of the required 100,000 signatures collected as of Tuesday, it looks like the leader of Free World was able to avoid that particular technique.
The episode featuring Obama is set to air on NBC sometime later this year.
