RUSH: Here is Shari in Valparaiso, Indiana, as we stick with the phones here on the Rush Limbaugh program. Hi, Shari. Great to have you here.
CALLER: Hi, Rush, glad to talk to you again.
RUSH: You bet.
CALLER: I have a question for you. First of all, do you remember how people have been calling you over the months and they've been all depressed about the country and upset with the direction we're going and saying that, you know, they think America is over and stuff like that? And you said to them that you didn't know what was gonna happen, but you're an optimist, and you didn't know what would happen, but you thought something would happen to pull us back from the brink. Well, my question is, do you think that Trump was what you were waiting for?
RUSH: Well, no. I'm answering your question specifically. I mean, I didn't know what the event would be. All I knew is that something was likely to happen that would reinvigorate people, or that would illustrate to them that all isn't lost, or that they're not in a minority in terms of the way they're thinking about the country. In other words, something would happen to make everybody realize we haven't lost the country yet, there's still a good chance here of saving it. Now, I didn't anticipate, I didn't know what it would be. I had no idea. If anything, I was thinking more along the lines that something would happen that would expose Obama as a giant, total fraud.

That’s how I see Trump. Having an ideal conservative as POTUS is nice and all, but right now, we just need somebody who will stand up for this country, period.
Absolutely not. And I did not intend to infer that. Ted Cruz is my candidate. But at this extremely early point in the race, I find it hard to believe that Ted Cruz would have provided the spark to ignite this tinder. This is not a knock on Ted Cruz either. It is a knock on too large a part of this electorate which thinks it is watching a Reality Show called "American Idol Picks A President".
In addition to the DNC-run media, I personally blame Government schools.
Not quite. Trump is, by any measure, a doer, backing his words with action. You do not become the king of prized real estate globally by simply talking a good game.
Amen!!!
Some are blinded by the quest for the “perfect conservative”.
None of the candidates running for the Republican nomination have ever fit this impossible “perfect” notion.
Yeah this is distilled brilliance by Rush. He nails it.
I remember back to the election of Pope Benedict XVI. We traditional Catholics were stunned that this intellectual giant of conservatism—whom people said flat out could never get elected—now held the reigns of power. But soon the curia and Vatican politics started eating away as his reign like acid. He did some tremendous things, but he seems to have been completely hamstrung by bitter hostility by liberals in the Vatican. Benedict has a very academic disposition. As such, as brilliant as he is, there was a limit to what he could accomplish.
I like Cruz. I like Paul. But even if they win, how effective will they be with the current GOP party machinery? They still have their donors to satisfy, no?
Trump may not be square with all my issues. I don’t even like him much personally, and his theology is atrocious. But dang it, he FIGHTS.
Well-stated, we're thinking along the same lines. I'd call Trump more of a catalyst rather than just a candidate. The results of a catalyst are increasing heat in the process, increasing the speed of the process, and creating a new form that's better suited to a desired use than any of the constituent parts. All those seem to fit Trump, along with the fact that when the catalyst completes it's work, it's usually no longer separable from the whole.
I’m with you. Really sick of seeing hyperpurists questioning, tearing down, and smearing every single candidate “insufficiently” conservative for their tastes.
We end up with nothing. Nobody’s good enough and we end up with eight long years of treason, dissention, and atrocity.
Enough: every single candidate except Jeb and Lindsey would do far, far better than Obama and Clinton.
Donald Trump will have my vote if he’s the standard bearer.
I will be voting for Ted Cruz in my primary. I will work toward introducing other people to Cruz. But I will be cheering Trump in his destruction of the media and the GOP establishment.
Well said !
I thought so too.
During his early morning show this morning, Bill Bennett responded and quoted Rush’s scenario from yesterday. He was trying to be objective, but there was a definite note of “skepticism” regarding Rush’s opinion! Bennett objects to Trump’s lack of signing the loyalty agreement with the RNC. Also, Trump’s formerly supporting Single Payor system for Obamacare.
Oh, I see. I did misunderstand. Yes, the GOP lets the CINOs take over because they bash the true conservatives into oblivion.
Thats how I see Trump. Having an ideal conservative as POTUS is nice and all, but right now, we just need somebody who will stand up for this country, period.
The FACT simply stated!!
Exactamundo.
Trump doesn’t have the conservative philosophical underpinnings of a Ted Cruz, but he has instinctive traditional American values - hard work, personal responsibility, the rule of law, free markets... that strongly resonate with Americans.
Regardless of where Obama was born you never felt like he is an American because his VALUES are foreign.
Might I add .... also really sick of seeing hyperfanatics saying that Trump is ReaganChurchillWayneGideonMosesTheSavior...
Yes, I’ve tried to express this for a while.
The whole “liberal vs. conservative”, “red vs. blue”, “Rep vs. Dem” thing isn’t getting it done for America.
The globalists, who design our end, are not a majority. hey are, in fact, a small minority.
But they have prevailed by turning our elections into sporting events with two teams that have “fans”, not solemn civic rituals conducted by citizens.
The emergence of Trump and Sanders is a threat to the puppet masters, and their fear sweat is awesome to smell.

This loyalty agreement is bullcrap from the start.
Where was the loyalty agreement for Joe Miller in Alaska? Or Sharon Angle in Nevada? Or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi?
The GOP establishment didn’t want loyalty oaths then. But they want them when their ox is gored.
I hope he tops yesterdays show with todays and tomorrows shows...And I guess hell be on again Monday, since it is only Labor Day.

I must say I had to chuckle when I heard him go off against conservative writers as only willing to talk but not act. This criticism is equally applicable to conservative talk show hosts, which he is one. The truth is that all forms of public discourse develops and shapes the opinions of its recipients and is the prelude to action. The Internet is the latest great communication medium, which Marxists liberals realize they must control.
Agreed!
It does remain king - including the part "Kill Japs, kill Japs, kill more Japs" as a war policy.
