Think Free Exercise clause:

Can a state or federal government agency refuse to hire a person for a government job when the exclusive reason for not hiring the person is that person’s inability and refusal to perform an expected task for reasons of Christian or religious exercise?

Can a state or federal government agency fire a person from a government job when the exclusive reason for that firing is the person’s inability and refusal to perform an expected task for reasons of Christian or religious exercise?

Why Jail?

How does the state place a government employee in jail when the offense is refusal to perform a job action which at all other times is simply a firing offense?

Did the Kentucky clerk violate some party’s civil rights or did she simply refuse to perform a job task? Is this an offense worthy of jail time?

Or signed her THIRD set of divorce papers. Not saying divorced people can't be Christian; just pointing out that 3 times shows a decided lack of commitment the the holy act of marriage.

What do you know about the specific circumstances behind the three sets of divorce papers she signed?

Nothing? Right. So you're not qualified to cast stones at Kim Davis, nor comment on her commitment to her faith because you have zero facts.

I think Kim Davis can’t be fired. She is an elected official.

The black-robed supremes told us in 1973 that killing babies is okay. And society shrugged and said “well, that’s the law of the land so we have to accept it.” Now our supreme masters tell us that marriage can include couples of the same sex. If a society can accept Roe v. Wade then there’s literally no limit to what it will accept. A simple majority of the nine rulers can hand down any ruling and the citizens must comply. That’s where we are in this country. Sad. Five unelected people by simply expressing an opinion are allowed to override laws, make new laws and rule by edict over hundreds of millions of people. The situation is as insane as the homosexuals that want to marry.

She Was Elected To Her Position: Davis, a Democrat, won a 2014 election for Rowan County clerk handily — 53 percent to 46 percent.

Davis took the keys of the office from her mother, Jean Bailey, who held the position for 37 years.

The night Davis won, she gave an interview to The Morehead News.

“My words can never express the appreciation but I promise to each and every one that I will be the very best working clerk that I can be and will be a good steward of their tax dollars and follow the statutes of this office to the letter,” Davis said.

— She Can’t Be Fired: Because Davis is an elected official and is accountable to the voters, she can’t be fired from her job.

Christians do recognize that there are times when divorce is necessary. For example, a husband having a history of domestic violence against his wife. No right thinking Christian would tell a woman living in that circumstance that she cannot divorce. Have another strawman you want knocked down there bunkie?

OK, fine, she married in to 3 abusive relationships, so her divorces are perfectly justifiable. Now let's talk about discernment as a Christian principle.

As you've already shown a propensity to be judgemental without any facts and do nothing but stand up strawmen based on ridiculous assumptions, let's not. I have better things to do with my day.

Consider it a lesson in my not casting pearls among swine.

So you're not qualified to cast stones at Kim Davis, nor comment on her commitment to her faith because you have zero facts.

As a veteran of 22+ years of marriage, with all the assorted ups and downs, missteps and complete failures, I am DISTINCTLY qualified to make a comment about one's apparent commitment to marriage. She may be a committed Christian now, who believes in the sanctity of marriage. I don't know about her salvation and it is not my place to question that fact (Lord knows that is the gospel truth). With three (some sources say 4) divorces under her belt you have a hard time arguing with ANY intellectual honesty, that it has been at the top of her priorities her entire life. That's not being judgmental, or casting stones as you put it. It is simply looking at the case in an honest and frank manner.

1 John 4:1 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1 Thessalonians 5:21–22 - 21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good 22 abstain from every form of evil.

What law gives the lesbians the right to choose which person signs their certificate of marriage...if others are available to do the job, they have no case. Ky didn't refuse them a license , they just want to cause a problem...the idiot judge is part of their conspiracy and harassment of one person...
