Various Sites | VANITY

Posted on 09/04/2015 8:02:33 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

For those of you who want to know how each GOP Presidential candidate publicly stands on the Kim Davis/Gay Marriage issue, here is a guide.

BOBBY JINDAL

Bobby Jindal Defends Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis

QUOTE: "In America, You should be able to keep your job and follow your conscience."

MIKE HUCKABEE

Mike Huckabee offers support to Kentucky clerk who refuses to issue gay marriage licenses

TED CRUZ
Ted Cruz: 'I Stand With Kim Davis'

JEB BUSH
"[Davis] is sworn to uphold the law and it seems to me there ought to be common ground, there ought to be big enough space for her to act on her conscience and for, now that the law is the law of the land, for a gay couple to be married in whatever jurisdiction that is,

CARLY FIORINA
Kim Davis needs to execute the government's will" if she stays in her post

RAND PAUL
Rand Paul’s ‘solution’ to Kim Davis problem: ‘Why not just privatize marriage?’

RICK SANTORUM
Rick Santorum: What Kim Davis did is HEROIC and putting her in jail is RIDICULOUS

SCOTT WALKER
Scott Walker defends KY Clerk Kim Davis

QUOTE: " “Not only do I believe that the states have the right to define marriage and I disagree with the court ruling. But I believe that the next president, the most important thing I can do as president is uphold the constitution over all and part of the constitution is the freedom of religion not the freedom from religion but the freedom of religion…. We do that in our state. We have it very clearly defined in our state’s constitution . It has worked just fine in the past.”

MARCO RUBIO
Marco Rubio Says Government Should Respect Kim Davis’s Beliefs

QUOTE: “We should seek a balance between government’s responsibility to abide by the laws of our republic and allowing people to stand by their religious convictions,”

DONALD TRUMP
Donald Trump on Kim Davis case: ‘The Supreme Court has ruled’

QUOTE: “Well look — the decision came down from the Supreme Court … so I’m a believer in both sides of the picture,” Mr. Trump said Friday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I would say the simple answer is let her clerks do it. Now, from what I understand, she’s not letting her clerks do it, either.”

JOHN KASICH
"We'll honor what the Supreme Court does," he said. "It's the law of the land. It's the way that America functions."

CHRIS CHRISTIE

Christie acknowledged that “someone who works in the government has a bit of a different obligation than someone who’s in the private sector or obviously working for educational institutions that’s religiously based or others,” but opined that “we have to protect religious liberty and people’s ability to be able to practice their religion freely and openly, and of course we have to enforce the law too.”

LINDSAY GRAHAM
In a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt, Graham said that as a public official Davis must “comply with the law or resign.” “The rule of law is the rule of law,” he argued, “That’s what we are. We are a rule of law nation, and I appreciate her conviction. I support traditional marriage, but she’s accepted a job where she has to apply the law to everyone. And that’s her choice.”

HILLARY CLINTON
Marriage equality is the law of the land. Officials should be held to their duty to uphold the law—end of story.

BEN CARSON

There seems to be nothing coming from Ben Carson on this issue... if you find anything, kindly post it on this thread.

So when we lose a vote, the losers should refuse to comply? That’s the end of the country. I hate so called “gay marriage” but I hate theocracy even more. And if we have another eight years of business as usual, there will be no private sector left.

So, you will vote for Santorum, Rubio, Jindal or Paul? Cruz may or may not win some primaries, then who does that leave?

There are still ten candidates I have not yet crossed off the list. The seven I have crossed off are Bush, Christie, Fiorina, Graham, Kasich, Pataki, and Trump.

Yes, they can get a license in any county in KY but don’t have to now. They were all lined up at the Rowan County Clerk’s Office this morning. Marriage is now a joke.

“But jailed? Is that where we are?”

Being put in jail is what has got me frosted. And the ankle cuffs are a nice little touch. Whoever made that decision should be fired, promptly. That is a snake’s den.

While laws are, by necessity, not subject to personal interpretation, the United States has ALWAYS made allowances for freedom of conscience. Therefore, the jailing, the perp walk, is a monstrosity.

Illegal aliens are dealt with more gently.

And this mantra about the Supreme Court being the law of the land has got to be stopped. It is not in the Constitution. The framers were much too smart for that.

I would not give up an $80K a year job to make homosexuals happy. Nope.

Pataki is in negative numbers of favorability among Republican voters. Christie, Gilmore, Pataki, and Graham all are at zero or below.

I don’t disagree. At this rate though I don’t think it’ll take 20 years. Sadly, in terms of the WH we’re pretty much already there.

Were they elected to that position? Was burger king forced by McDonald's to sale bacon in contradiction to their policy?

80K or no, I would have resigned for a clear conscience in the matter. But homos will never be happy because they’re homos.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The first amendment is also about free religious exercise.

You wait. I may be 5 to 10 years ahead of schedule, but cases like these will arise in the future if the immigration problem is not resolved quickly.
