Who is Hugh Hewitt?
Washington Post ^ | September 4 at 12:39 PM | Janell Ross September 4 at 12:39 PM

Hewitt's best friend is Harvard roommate Mark Gearan, who also happens to have been President Bill Clinton's communications director. His University of Michigan Law School classmate, Anne Gust, a Democrat and wife of the California Gov. Jerry Brown (D), is another.

But his connections on the right are also deep-rooted. Just out of college, Hewitt helped a then-recently disgraced Nixon research a book, and he clerked for the likes of Judges Robert Bork, Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Scalia and Ginsburg, of course, now sit on the Supreme Court; Bork was unsuccessfully nominated. And during his tenure in the Reagan White House, Hewitt worked alongside the now-U.S. chief justice, John Roberts.

...

Hewitt show's guest line-up has already included many of the men and one woman vying for the GOP nomination in 2016. But the famed leftist constitutional scholar, lawyer and law professor, Erwin Chemerinsky -- Hewitt's colleague at the nearby University of California Irvine School of Law -- is also a show regular, as was the late Christopher Hitchens before his death in 2011.

...

It also probably does not hurt that Hewitt has a son working in the Republican National Committee's press office, has written several books and writes weekly columns for the Washington Examiner and Townhall.com.

He’s also a good buddy of Mark Levins. At least I have heard Mark say this.

HH is an excellent interviewer and moderator. He’s an intelligent, reasonable, and articulate spokesperson for the conservative point of view.

“HH is an excellent interviewer and moderator. He’s an intelligent, reasonable, and articulate spokesperson for the conservative point of view.”

Agree - but as far as the former Paultards and current Trumpets are concerned, he’s not an arm-waver, bloviator or posturer and that alone discredits him in their eyes.

I always thought “Hugh Hewitt” was the sound a college frat guy made before heaving in the porcelain chalice.

I’ve been listening to HH for years. I what way(s) do you contend he’s not conservative?

Count me as one of the “simple minded people”.

One would think that, as we are all conservatives, we could could find more productive ways to spend our time other than insulting one another.

What would be nice is if people in the media, like Hewitt, were up front about who they’re rooting for. Hewitt is on the moderate end of Republican spectrum and he was a loud and strident supporter of Mitt Romney when he ran in 2012. I think it is undeniable that Hewitt leans towards candidates like Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio. As such, he shouldn’t be moderating the upcoming CNN debate between the candidates.

He’s a RINO because he backed Mitt Romney? Seriously? He backs whoever the Republican is, as do I.

Who do you contend should moderate the Republican debate? Same for the national debate once the nominations have been secured?
