How The Donald Trumped the Republican Party
NRO ^ | John Fund

Posted on 09/04/2015 11:19:23 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

You know Donald Trump has exercised the “leverage” he always seeks in life when even his bitter adversary, former Texas governor Rick Perry (who called him “a cancer on conservatism”) admits that Trump “helped himself” on Thursday by taking a pledge not to run as an independent in 2016. Only eleven weeks after people laughed as he made his presidential announcement at New York’s Trump Tower, I watched him return to a podium there as a maestro calling the Republican party’s tune.

The current RealClearPolitics average of all national polls has Trump clearly in the lead for the GOP nomination. He has 27 percent of the vote, more than twice the support that Ben Carson, another political newcomer, has, at 13 percent. The combined strength of the next four candidates — Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Scott Walker — barely surpasses Trump’s support.

With that kind of “leverage,” it was an easy call for Trump to sign the pledge that RNC chairman Reince Preibus took the time to fly up to New York to present to him. As Roger Stone, Trump’s former and occasionally current adviser, put it on MSNBC: “Trump came out of this the winner. He got 16 other Republican candidates to pledge to support him should he win the nomination, and he gave up very little.”

Trump did NOT trump the Republican Party..

He trumped the liberal GOPe of the republican party..
stealth democrat agents and RINOs of the republican party..

MOST ALL of the republican party are conservatives...
THEY WERE NOT TRUMPED.. or even slowed down..
MOST do not EAT Trumps “BONES” that he throws AT THEM..

Ted Cruz is the man of the hour, THIS HOUR, prepared ready and able to assume COMMAND.. maybe even BORN to become Commander in Chief..

Trump was born to become Crony Capitalist in Chief...

Choose; you get a Commander or a Crony Capitalist..
Your Choice.. I’m sorry I made the WRONG choice will not get it this cycle.. think hard..

“MOST ALL of the republican party are conservatives...”

That’s your first error. That is not true. If that were true, we’d have someone other than Boner, Scalise, McCarthy and Scrotum Neck running the show in the Congress.

“MOST do not EAT Trumps “BONES” that he throws AT THEM..”

That’s also a misstatement. I understand you are not a Trump supporter, but what you “wish” were the case, and “what the reality is,” are two different animals. My question to you is, are you going to vote for Trump if he wins the nomination, or help the RATS elect Hitlary by staying home?

Conservatives Stay home (from elections) when a RINO or Moron is selected for a republican Seat..... like: Romney..

So democrats elect them.. whats the difference... Rino vs Democrat..
In the HIVE they can “SMELL” who a person is..
Example: Lisa Murcowski.. democrats elected her..

Flawed logic but who’s perfect?... TRUMP?..

Republican Party is mostly conservative.. you’re WRONG...
used to call it the silent majority.. NOT easily FOOLED..

I’m interested in hosepipe’s answer.
So far, it’s a chorus of crickets, though.

I’m already starting to see a problematic shift in Trump. I love how he handles the media and the GOP-E but he’s going to face a big day of reckoning once Jeb and others fall out of the mix.

I’m with you hosepipe. Every time I hear Trump talk during his speeches, he claims he’ll make America great again, but never elaborates on how he intends to do that very thing. It’s still early and if he wishes to keep the “how”part secret, I understand.
However, in our constitution, the president wields a good deal of domestic power, but the overwhelming majority is held by Congress. Furthermore, Congress has the express authority of controlling the expenditures via the budget. Most things don’t get done without funding, or they shouldn’t.
I find it hard to believe Trump will get all he wants (bring jobs back, build a wall, scare our enemies by expanding/ growing the military, etc.) without a compliant Congress.
And as for the Congress, those worthless, miserable pricks have their own agenda and likely won’t take too kindly of Trump’s overt ego.
I sometimes wonder if Trump really wants to be President. He’s probably having a great time garnering a massive amount of attention and press, but he may be plotting to withdraw and throw his support to another candidate. Only he knows.
As for me, I like Ted Cruz. His pedigree is the most impressive of all the candidates and I agree with his position & what he stands for.
These next few months will certainly be entertaining. I do wish to see Cruz pick up some steam and hear more of what he has to say.

Ted Cruz as President KNOWS exactly how to influence the Senate and the HOUSE...

As President he would a quantum level of MORE POWER than a lone Senator with Mike Lee as back-up..

Nothing wrong with Mike Lee should be Cruz’s Veep choice..
for an ADDITIONAL 8 years of sweet justice in Washington D.C..

They both could get this Rube Goldberg America back to the DYNAMO it should be..
Crony Capitalists would head for hills and not American hills..
JUSTICE on so many levels could once be a possibility..

From TORT Reform to an FBI that actually WORKS.. and of course the Fair Tax and giving the IRS an enema..

So I take it that if Trump is the nominee, you’re staying home?

Part of that ole “silent majority huh? “I’ll show em who’s boss, I’ll just sit on my a$$ and show em all!”

If the “silent majority” only votes ultra-conservative, tell me why Cruz is in the dumper? ( And FWIW, I love Cruz and would be happy to see him in the WH). The fact of the matter is that there isn’t a “wave of conservatism” sweeping the country ( much to my dismay), so we have to play the hand we’re being dealt again. But at least this time we do have some alternatives to the long list of GOPe “$hit sandwiches” that are fleshing out the bulk of the 17 slots. It’s going to be interesting to see where the votes migrate when the GOPe turds start sinking to the bottom of the bowl. Cruz appears to be smart enough to leave the door to Trump’s office open. We will see.

Given the bend over strategy displayed by the GOP for at least the past decade, pulling one over on the GOP is not a big accomplishment.
