I talked to a Somali immigrant to Norway, who sat next to me on a plane. He had been in Norway for five years, and had no job - he was still in Government funded language training, and completely supported by the State, with enough free money to be flying internationally. This guy was muslim, and certainly had a tribal mentality. He did not relate to Norwegian culture at all, saying that Norwegians were emotionally cold people who dump their own parents into institutional care, and live unhappy lonely lives.
He talked freely of how easy it was to illegally cross borders to gain benefits, and then save money to start businesses back home - buying cows, reselling imports, and such. It sure sounded like that was his plan, although he did not say that outright. A lot of his family and acquaintances had migrated (all illegally apparently) to several countries, including the USA and Canada, but not his mom, who was old and did not want to leave home.
He said the main route for Somalis into the USA was through San Diego, and he was familiar with the large Somali community around Minneapolis, and how their welfare benefits stacked up against other places, compared to how good the social scene was for Somalis. He said that it was easy for folks in Somalia to find contacts to guide them across the borders and through the local legal system of several countries - common knowledge in Somalia.
When I was in Stockholm, all the taxi drivers were Iraqis, who complained that they could not get the kind of jobs that they were educated for in Iraq, but it was clear that there was a lot of tension within the Iraqi community there, among people who came from different factions and militias back in Iraq. But the Iraqis that I saw there seemed to be working, hustling in fact. I have heard it said that Iraqis are like the Germans of the Arab World - relatively technical and industrious.
So there are some relatively good immigrant recruits to be had (young, educated, with a work culture, wealthy and with language skills), but it a country with high welfare payments throws the doors open without quality screening, there is a flood of deadbeats that will stampede for the opportunity. Even the poorest and least developed countries in the world can get the word around and get people moving in a few weeks, if there is a good opportunity. Technology makes it easier and faster than ever before.
Yes ..that is a common complaint from Muslims who immigrate or are a refugee. That's because the Mullahs and overall rumors are told to them that they will have food, lodging, education and a job in their field when they arrive and in many cases immediate citizenship.....of course that doesn't happen...thus eventually they protest and rise up.
There are ‘many’ Doctors and other Professionals who are not working in their field , mostly in lower paying jobs....which is why you also hear them saying they had it much better in their home country. The woman especially complain for their “entitlement” state of mind is very much that even before they leave their home country. They do not understand what refugee and immigrant mean ...for they are told otherwise.
Also Muslims see people “cold” and “stiff” because they are just the opposite....HIGHLY emotional and accustomed to settling matters in volatile ways. So it's not just Islam ..it's their entire makeup and culture that does not adapt. Therefor they do set up their own communities and eventually make them No go Zones where crime etc. escalates over time.
Bottom line is you cannot mix cultures and expect it will work.....it's not about skin color it's about cultures that 'cannot' adapt....especially where Islam is practiced.
