“Perhaps al Quds has been the subject of less focus than it deserves, but we’re asking a candiate to name the leader and address a group that pulls in less than 1% on the Google radar for this liste of terrorist groups?”
Sure, Quds itself has gotten far less media attention than it deserves (though their puppet groups like Hezbollah certainly have).
But one thing worth noting is that, as I posted above (I posted the exchange between Hewitt and Trump), Hewitt didn’t ask Trump to name Suleimani, Hewitt named him himself. Reading the exchange, it really does not look like it was some attempt at a gotcha to catch Trump not knowing who so-and-so is (like that interview of Bush during the 2000 election). I think Hewitt was genuinely asking Trump for his thoughts on the impact of the Iran deal on Quds and Suleimani—an issue that is a major, major problem in the Iran deal (albeit one of many major problems with the deal). It only became a “gotcha” when Trump interjected his own confusion.
