Those rights weren’t “bestowed” on We The People. That’s like people saying “the second amendments grants the right to bear arms.” Our rights come from our Creator; the Bill of Rights acknowledges that and provides protections against the federal government from violating those rights.

Yes rights are granted by the creator. Does that mean that we should be global police making sure God-given rights apply to all jurisdictions? Why stop at the states? Lets make sure every nation on the planet follows American views of God-given rights./sarc

True. I almost referenced the Declaration as unalienable rights and decided to stick with the Constitution where the founder recognized those in the Bill of Rights as guaranteed to the people. No one can infringe, whether federal or state as federal cannot be overridden by state or local law.
