I just spent the better part of July and August in Abu Dhabi for work. Even though the UAE is Westernized and “progressive” the rules listed in the article are pretty much the rules that Christians have to live by there. The Catholic churches in UAE needed permission from the king to be built and have NO Christian symbols adorning the exterior. Obviously, no proclaiming of the Gospel in any public venue is allowed. I did make sure everyone I met knew I was a Catholic though. The Moslem men I worked with actually respected that and we got along pretty well. Anyhow.....

Very nice. Yes, I agree. Also, based on my travels in the ME, if there was a Christian presence prior to Islam then the tolerance for Christian practices is better. Still not what we allow them in the West though. Thanks for the post and pictures.
