But that's OK.

!. Divorce was frowned upon.
2. Women can make their own way in life. In the “olden days” a women could choose between spinsterhood and living off your family (if allowed), marriage, becoming a nun, a teacher or a nanny. Most chose marriage.

College educated women today have been indoctrinated by the feminist radicals in our universities into thinking it is “weak” to be a woman.

You see, American women today do not like being women. They reject it. They fight it. They might dress the part, behave the part, but they have no interest in embracing what it means to be a woman.

Many European, Hispanic and non-indoctrinated American women embrace their womanhood. They know its power, they revel in its glory and enjoy everything about being a woman.

That is the problem.....not a shortage of men.

Yes you did. That is a good example of an intellectually vain urban woman, riding the carousel too long and hitting the wall. Only to be replaced by a chick with a better (younger) SMV.

Women died in childbirth in your scenario, too—men might have several wives in a lifetime —and consider that a life expectancy of 45 did make for happier marriages.

He must have a certain education, certain wealth, certain wage earning potential, certain height; plus he must have the 'bad boy' factor.

A high-profile lawyer or a Wall Street trader who is at least 6 ft. 2, and acts and dresses like Marlon Brando. Yeah, not a big supply of those.

Considering I was attacked for those very things as a college freshmen in 1995, I find that article rather funny.

Maybe it's the pool of "men" that are available.

Problem is nature dictates to a woman she should mate with someone “more powerful” than she is. That used to be defined by physical size and strength which was easy to find. Now that power is defined more by how much money you make, women don’t want to date someone earning less than they do. But paradoxically they’re trying to focus on their career and earn more and more and themselves, continually pricing themselves out of the dating market as they see it.

The irony is feminists want us to defy biology and gender differences all the time when it suits them. But women don’t even consider defying their own instincts and dating a man who earns less than they do, even when reality has shifted to the point where the instincts no longer apply.

Not that it’s a good idea for a man to date a woman who earns more than he does. Defying those instincts are not easy for anyone, but especially for a woman. So most likely she will be unhappy in that relationship and she will let him know it.

And a man is not going to be interested in what a woman does for a living, or how much money she makes, it’s all about can she be a good mother and look good on his arm.

Two things:

1: New “respectable” occupations for women from nursing, teaching, etc. So middle class daughters had more opportunities to support themselves.
2: Explosion of new middle class jobs for men from clerks to what are now called white collar jobs.

Just saw a marriage break-up in my own extended family over this. She worked in the medical field and earned WAY more than he did (though his wages were by no means poverty-level).

She could just never get past that. Nagged the hell out of him for years to become more ambitious and strive harder for the brass ring before getting a divorce and moving on.

Have you ever tried to talk to a young woman who’s graduated with a ‘Studies’ degree? That’s sort of like the college version of ‘Special Education’.

Of course! Thank you.

My personal made up theory for today is that as women enter a profession, the men leave. Feminism is a culture killer.
