Not Some cop,as in ONE officer, but a whole parade ,and if I remember the news correctly over 200 shots fired-ALL by the police. Definitely more than one bad cop.

EVERY time a bad cop gets away with committing a crime under color of authority it sends EXACTLY the wrong message to all sides of the issue.

Cops trail people for many reasons;most of the time the reason is legitimate.Sometimes it is just to fill a stupid ticket quota.

GOOD cops and citizens should not fear holding police to a high standard. With the power SHOULD come great responsibility to use that power wisely.

Actually we ought to hold our public officials to such high standards.

Update!

Virginia Beach police release new details on man killed in officer-involved shooting

VIRGINIA BEACH

Guy Cuffee pulled up to a townhouse in Green Run late at night to drive his youngest daughter to work as he was used to doing for her safety.

He texted 19-year-old Deja Jackson to let her know he was outside.

That's when Deja and her older sister heard two gunshots.

When they ran outside, they found their father lying on the ground next to his car. The 42-year-old had been shot in the head.

On Tuesday, Police Chief Jim Cervera said Cuffee was killed Aug. 11 with a stolen semi-automatic pistol found with Angelo Delano Perry, who was later shot to death by police officers.

Recently completed ballistic tests performed on a Kel-Tec 9mm and a TEC-DC9 directly linked the handguns to evidence recovered from a series of shootings over the summer, Cervera said during a news conference. One of the weapons was in a bag at Perry's feet, and the other was found near his body.

"Over a period of 40 days, we have six individuals who were shot, two of whom were homicide cases," the chief said. "All of these cases are directly linked to guns found in Mr. Angelo Perry's possession."

Police shot Perry, 35, and his girlfriend, India Kager, 28, on Sept. 5 outside a 7-Eleven in the Princess Anne area. The couple's 4-month-old son, Roman, was found unharmed in an infant seat in the back. Police said they didn't know he was there. On Tuesday, police reiterated that Kager, who was driving, was not a suspect and was caught in the crossfire.

Cervera has declined to release the names of four officers involved in the shooting. All have been on administrative duty.

Perry was under surveillance that night. Police had been tipped off that he was preparing to commit another violent crime , Cervera said. When the couple pulled into the 7-Eleven parking lot on Lynnhaven Parkway, officers walked up to the car to arrest Perry, Cervera said.

Perry fired four shots at police, and one bullet pierced the sleeve of an officer's uniform, but he was not wounded. Police returned 30 rounds.

The crime spree began June 13 when a man was robbed while sitting in his car in a parking lot on Malibu Palms Drive off Rosemont Road north of the interstate. The Kel-Tec 9mm pistol was taken from him and later found with Perry the night he was killed, Cervera said.

Six weeks later, on July 27, a man walking toward a basketball court near the Pecan Gardens Townhomes on Arthur Avenue off South Rosemont Road was shot in the shoulder. Ballistic tests showed that the Kel-Tec pistol had been used, Cervera said.

Two weeks later, Cuffee's body was found next to his car at the Manchester Village Apartments in the Green Run subdivision. Tests matched the Kel-Tec to that homicide, he said.

"As he often did, Mr. Cuffee drove from his home in Portsmouth to pick up his daughter and take her to work so she would not have to walk," Cervera said. "He was always concerned about her safety walking late at night."

Six days later, a woman was shot point-blank in the face, and a man was pistol-whipped and shot in the hand during a home invasion at the Hillcrest Apartments near Lake Edward. Two men were involved, and both guns found with Perry were shown to have been used, Cervera said.

On Aug. 22, just five days after the home invasion, 22-year-old Devontai Snowden was killed in a parking lot at the Atlantis Apartments . Police recovered 15 shell casings and matched them to both of the guns found with Perry. Two suspects are believed to have been involved.

Police say they believe Perry was involved in each of the incidents involving the guns that were found with him, Cervera said.

Cervera said two other reviews are continuing: the police's internal affairs investigation, which is nearly complete, and one by the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, which handles all police-involved shootings.

Macie Allen, a spokeswoman for the commonwealth's attorney, could not say when the investigation will be finished because the office is waiting on reports from other agencies, including the Police Department.

Cervera said the families of Cuffee and Snowden have been notified of the findings. They also have shared the information with Perry's wife in Georgia and Kager's parents. Perry was released on mandatory parole in Georgia in May after serving almost 13 years in prison on convictions that included malicious wounding and assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.

Cuffee's mother, Gail Ramsey, said police came to her home Monday to update her on the investigation into her son's death.

"Now I've got closure," she said. "I'm glad that I know what happened and that I didn't have to wait for years to find out."
