I don’t believe BO wrote this. It sounds more like Bill Ayers
Of course, noted that he identifies with the muzzie attackers, not the Americans being killed.
His “ law office”?
Is that what they call the broom closet at the University of Chicago?
Man’s Country.
Since September 11th, I’ve often heard it said that it brought us together as Americans. This is not what I remember. To me, it illuminated a glaring chasm between those who “took it personal”, such as myself I hardly need add, and those who considered it philosophically.
IIRC, there was film from the street that night of some young white hipster types who were fretting that it was going to rile up the right wing crazies.
Seared in my memory.
Saw some coverage on youtube from a local new york station back on 9/11/01. If obama was _resident then I doubt we would have retailiated the way Bush did.
Hearing Bush promise retribution made me realize what a terrorist symathizer we have in obama. Makes me sick.
A more important question is where was Obama the night of Sept 11, 2012?
HIs “law office”
Snort
If Hussein wrote that, I will eat both my pen and my phone...
Rejoicing and passing out candy? #ululating
“It seemed all the misery and all the evil in the world were in that rolling black cloud blocking out the September sun.”

“With the 12th anniversary of 9/11 today, several people are sharing this scanned page from the Sept. 19, 2001 issue of the Hyde Park Herald, featuring reactions to the attacks from several local politicians, including one State Sen. Barack Obama. Obama wrote:
The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy, such numbness to the pain of a child or the desperation of a parent, is not innate nor, history tells us, is it unique to a particular culture, religion, or ethnicity. It may find expression in a particular brand of violence and may be channeled by particular demagogues or fanatics. Most often, though, it grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair. [W]e will have to devote far more attention to the monumental task of raising the hopes and prospects of embittered children across the globe children not just in the Middle East, but also in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and within our own shores.”
This sounds like the kind of `O Woe is me’ treacle Jughead himself may have written.
Thought you might be interested in this thread. :)
Celebrating.
I may be mistaken because this is from personal memory, but I believe Bill Clinton was in Australia. I always found that odd.
Where was Obama.
In a bathhouse in Chicago?
Handing out treats to the townfolks.
Here is an article he wrote, in The New Yorker, in response to 9/11...
In one of the very serious articles about Mr. Obama, called Making It, in the current issue of The New Yorker we are treated to his response to 9/11 as published in the September 19th 2001 edition of the Hyde Park Herald:
Even as I hope for some measure of peace and comfort to the bereaved families, I must also hope that we as a nation draw some measure of wisdom from this tragedy. Certain immediate lessons are clear, and we must act upon those lessons decisively. We need to step up security at our airports. We must reexamine the effectiveness of our intelligence networks. And we must be resolute in identifying the perpetrators of these heinous acts and dismantling their organizations of destruction.
We must also engage, however, in the more difficult task of understanding the sources of such madness. The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy, such numbness to the pain of a child or the desperation of a parent, is not innate; nor, history tells us, is it unique to a particular culture, religion, or ethnicity. It may find expression in a particular brand of violence, and may be channeled by particular demagogues or fanatics. Most often, though, it grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair.
We will have to make sure, despite our rage, that any U.S. military action takes into account the lives of innocent civilians abroad. We will have to be unwavering in opposing bigotry or discrimination directed against neighbors and friends of Middle Eastern descent. Finally, we will have to devote far more attention to the monumental task of raising the hopes and prospects of embittered children across the globechildren not just in the Middle East, but also in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and within our own shores.
