Out here on the west coast, there’s been some problems with pings caused by the fact that there’s several different systems for specifying lat and long, and the phone companies don’t necessarily use the same format as the l.e. agency does. There’s HMS, and two different H plus digital remainder systems that I’m aware of. The Sheriff spent several hours one day looking through an orchard for a potential suicide, meanwhile the guy was sitting in his living room about a mile away watching TV.
Sounds like they found a hot spot in a boat on a trailer with FLIR.
