We SHOULD be emotional about the existential threat to our nation posed by an open Southern border. We SHOULD be emotional about our unemployed brothers and sisters, and their children being cheated out of a future.
Those emotions can lead to poor choices, but they can also lead to meaningful, positive change.
The Trump movement IS very emotional. But that's not all it is.

A Dallas area political reporter summed up the Trump campaign last night after his report on the Trump rally. He called it “Hope and Change 2.0” Basically, an empty slogan with not many ideas discussed.

Exactly. He remains an empty vessel into which desperate conservatives can pour their hopes and dreams. They will vote for whom they imagine him to be, no matter that it bears no relation to reality.
With your seeming revelation that we all MUST vote for any “real candidate” other than Trump, implying the Democrat candidate - whoever he/she is, is much worse, I submit that Jeb Bush as a nominee isn't any different.
I've said this many times here in the last year or so. My main purpose in life here in what I say and do is to stop the candidacy of Jeb Bush in any way possible. It is my imperative, my raison d’être.
To the point that Trump facilitates that, I am satisfied, mainly because without him (Jeb) gone from the contest there is simply no chance of any of one of those other candidates you might think of as “real” to rise above Jeb's machine.
Without Trump, Bush and the PACs and the RNC would run roughshod right over all the other candidates. Freeze them out, drown them with attacks (with willing Dem MSM help, I'd add).
Additionally, Trump's position has forced some of our lesser knowns in the contest to take a stand (or not) - e.g., Walker with his "I'll decide later on amnesty after we close the border" and his latest "I'll bust up the Unions", or Carson's popularity (why, I'll never know - he's a gun grabber and an amnesty shill), or even some of the others. They'd all be flailing in the wind against Bush, and with NO coverage at all. Right now, the coverage they do get is when it's anti-Trump. The smart ones on the slate are the ones keeping their mouths shut about Trump.
Meanwhile, Jebito is off speaking Spanish somewhere and glad handing with big business donors ready, willing and able to sell our sovereignty and jobs down the river to make a buck.

There are enough entrenched anti-American and anti-Constitutional forces between the Rats and Rinos that the country needs someone they would deem a bomb thrower. Many people now realize this. But when the targets are embedded within the people a Curtis LeMay style bombing campaign will do a lot of collateral damage, potentially enough to turn our new allies back to the dark side. What we need is a “smart bomb” thrower who can identify the targets, know the policies (well known here) needed to precisely target them AND have the willpower to actually release them. Trump is using the Norden bombsight with WWII era munitions. His supporters fervently believe his results will be as accurate as those remaining heroes still swear they achieved with dumb bombs and that bombsight. Alas I know post war analysis long ago proved them wrong. They made a huge mess, but did not nearly as much good as they thought. I want Mitch, Hillary and friends to feel like that unluckiest driver in Iraq. Trump is over the target, taking flack, but does he have the Right weapon load for the task?

Trump has absolutely no experience defeating opposition.
Trump’s experience is making deals with people that want to get the same results as he does but how they get those results is different.
People that don’t want to sell their land for his deals, Trump has no problem bringing people into the deal that can have the govt take the land for his deals.
That alone is all I need to know about Trump to know putting him into the WH is not only stupid it’s dangerous.
There is absolutely nothing about the democrat agenda that I want to see advanced by making deals with them.
