Papal visits to any country around the globe are planned down to the most minute detail months, if not a year, prior to the event. This includes vetting of individuals in any group that is meeting-and-greeting il Papa at close range.

It's almost certain that the Pope was aware of these Obama invitees a long time ago, perhaps he even asked for some "sinners" to be invited as part of his own agenda, whatever it might be.

That's what Rush mentioned yesterday, positing in question form if it may be the Pope who wants to meet these people...and the selection is not necessarily to be laid at Obama's feet exclusively.
