All the candidates think they are the next Reagan. Reagan wasn’t without his warts - can we say amnesty? What bothered me about that interview is that Cruz commented that he wouldn’t trash his opponents nor Democrats. That tells me he’ll be more like GWB - not standing up for himself - just let the media paint him as who they want him to be. Not good.

Trashing and pointing out policy differences is two different things. Cruz will go to task on democrat policy and positions but he won’t call them names. He has class.

I don't agree on either count. Reagan was the first one to fall for Amnesty - the first time Lucy held the football and a conservative ran to kick it only to have the ball pulled away at the last moment. I don't blame an honest man for falling for liberal lies, at least not the first time it happened. Anyone who falls for it again is a dangerous fool (and, yes, I'm talking Rubio, Jeb, and the rest of the RINOs).

As for not trashing the socialists, I'm okay with Cruz emphasizing the positives and why a smaller, more conservative government would be good for jobs and good for everyone. It's the VP's job to trash the opposition, and I suspect Vice President Trump will do that very well.

uh no....GWB did far more than “not trash” - he wouldn’t even confront! Totally different thing.

This is what’s wrong with our party.
It’s not Ted’s job to trash his own party.
Maybe point out differences, but not trash them. When the time comes to take apart the Democrats, he will.
This is what I love about Ted. He’s got an IQ that out shines everyone on in the race and he knows how to use it.

Ted Cruz does just fine standing up for himself and our principles. He tries to do so in the most civil manner possible. Nothing wrong with that.

Just because he won’t trash an opponent doesn’t mean he won’t stand up for himself. Have you heard the guy speak and respond to stupid questions? Check out his convo with that Juno actress or any other time he gets “confronted” on the campaign trail. Sen. Cruz makes his opponents look like fools when he gives an answer.
