Here’s something to ponder. A Christian is elected president. Since Islam is a religion would the president not be required under the constitution to protect Islam?

Of course, the solution is to declare Islam a political ideology and not a religion. But does the constitution allow that? I’ve always said our freedoms will be used by our enemies to destroy us.

The Founding Fathers knew it but this was the best they could come up with. And even with all the corruption from the beginning it’s lasted more than 200 years. I fear it won’t last much longer.

The Constitution was written by people born as Colonial Britons with direct experience of a system of government in which the monarch was head, a Pontiff if you will, of a national church. Non Anglicans were taxed to support that church and not only limited in their legal rights but sometimes subject to physical abuse and even death for their beliefs. So keeping the State out of the Church, rather than keeping people of faith out of the State, was their purpose.

All that being said, it's impossible to conceive of a faithful Muslim, believing in Sharia, the Jizyah, Jihad, and a murderous pedophile as God's prophet honestly taking the oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. That being the case none of them can be trusted to fulfill such an oath and must not be permitted to practice its betrayal. As demonstrated by Obama's subterfuge, the media and cowardly / ignorant / lazy politicians and church "leaders" are co-conspirators, and voters are the weak link. By bluntly stating the truth about Islam while under the spotlight of a presidential campaign, and attracting all this vitriol, Dr. Carson has performed one of the greatest acts of public service in memory.
