Man,what memories-—and they probably all smoked.
.
.
Two old friends, Ed and Tom, made a vow that when one died, he would return to tell the other if there was baseball in Heaven. Ed died, and a few days later, he spoke to Tom from the clouds.
TOM: Hey Ed, so tell me.....is there baseball in Heaven?
ED: Well, I got good news and bad news. The good news is theres plenty of baseball in Heaven, games every day, double headers on Sunday... I play every day.
TOM: Thats great! Whats the bad news?
ED: The bad news is that youre pitching Tuesday,
And to think just the other day we had a thread here talking about who were the greatest catchers ever.
Game Called. Across the field of play
the dusk has come, the hour is late.
The fight is done and lost or won,
the player files out through the gate.
The tumult dies, the cheer is hushed,
the stands are bare, the park is still.
But through the night there shines the light,
home beyond the silent hill.
Game Called. Where in the golden light
the bugle rolled the reveille.
The shadows creep where night falls deep,
and taps has called the end of play.
The game is done, the score is in,
the final cheer and jeer have passed.
But in the night, beyond the fight,
the player finds his rest at last.
Game Called. Upon the field of life
the darkness gathers far and wide,
the dream is done, the score is spun
that stands forever in the guide.
Nor victory, nor yet defeat
is chalked against the players name.
But down the roll, the final scroll,
shows only how he played the game.
-Grantland Rice
He hits from both sides of the plate. He’s amphibious.

Never a Yankees fan, but I hope he RIP in the great pinstripe in the sky! Great man to the last breath! May ball parks all over the country take a moment of silence today before the start ef each game!
Great story, thanks for sharing.
So pass the players of my youth, who will yet ever play on.
RIP Yogi. I hope someday to meet you....
Pair up in threes.
Yogi Berra
Joe Dimaggio, by all reports, deeply despised Bill Clinton. I recall hearing or reading somewhere that he told someone not to allow Clinton to attend his funeral. He also refused to shake his outstretched hand at some event the two happened to be at together. I've lived in NYC all my life and am no fan of the Yankees.
Yogi and Carmen are together again. A love for all eternity.
Roy Rogers always sang his philosophical thoughts....
Wow....that’s even more cool...to have gotten to see them, in person, at the Old-Timers game. What a treat! What a great memory, for you.
Thanks for sharing...the memories and the pics :)
A true legend.
RIP, Yogi
An American original.
God be with you now, Yogi.
LOL!
Thanks for the link
Loved the one from the AFLAC commercial,
“And they pay you in cash, which is as good as money.”
Yep, if you don’t like Yogi, you ain’t human.
