The Texas Election Code is clear.
(links do not work in the body of the thread, please click to her page for the back up info. I am having to re-type all so I will cut to the basics w/o backup #'s)
In Texas "the vote in an election is by official ballot" The Texas constitution and the Texas Election code mandate an official Texas ballot must contain the following:
1) Unique serial/ticket number
2) Election name
3) Election Date
4) Designation of "Official Ballot"
5) Voting square to the left of each candidate's name
6) voting instructions
Furthermore, the Texas Election code mandates the retention of 3 types of election records for computerized voting systems to document official vote results in Texas:
1) Ballot images must be retained:
a) Ballot image storage
b) Images of ballots cast
2) Precinct returns must be returned and retained:
a) Original precinct returns
b) copy of precinct returns
c) Results/Tally tapes, signed by election judges
3) Result computation and tabulation of the vote totals
a) Result tabulation

Dr Pressley looked up the patents for the E-slate and it stated that the machine was capable of doing ballot image. However, she found that most counties in Texas DO NOT USE IT. It is required by law.
I am pinging those who have posted on 3 voter fraud threads.
I thought you would be interested in this case in Texas.
If you have electronic machines, this is a VERY INTERESTING case!
I never knew that, either. I still think we should get a printout after we vote that we can examine to see if it is accurate. It should then be deposited in a ballot box, which can be used if there is need for a recount.
My friends from Heart of Texas chapter in Texas:
Here is a election funny business case that I would like you to check out. Please.
I have always been concerned about the electronic machines. Never trusted them but I have used this E-Slate and thought it the best of the 3 I was forced to choose from after 2000 punch card fiasco. Not sure how they could cheat but here is some possibilities AND TX rules that SHOULD protect us.
I asked my State Senator why if they passed the law, do they not follow thru to enforce it?
He said I/we have to check with the Secretary of State of TX elections guy.
Freepers are known for action, i.e. getting off the couch and picking up a sign, calling or writing. (A good example is the thousands of Christmas cards sent to the VP residence when Al Gore wouldn’t consede.)
So here is what I personally believe Freepers all across TX and the US can do to help stamp out election fraud:
Check with their State law if not in Texas to find out the vote protection if using electronic machines.
Does the patent on the machines say they are capable of ballot image & ID numbers for each ballot?
Call our State house reps and Senators to make sure the law is strongest it can be. Maybe have penalities for non-compliance?
Check with our county election clerks to see if their machines are following the law.
Call the Secretary of State’s office and speak to the election person. Find out if the programing is correct.
Maybe send a few bucks to help this lady fight our fight for us.
Last I read was Spain counts Texas’ votes. Seriously, Spain.
Absolutely agree. I’ve raised this very issue in my precinct.
There’s always the little ticket with 4-digit number you have to enter to start the machine. I’ve asked where I can go to verify my ballot was recorded correctly; was told it couldn’t be done.
Sheesh, all ballots could easily be posted on the internet.
Save your number, go online, verify.
Too, I’ve been fussing for decades about the media’s penchant for calling the election before the precincts are even closed. That needs to stop.
Common sense says people stuck in traffic, listening on radio, are being encouraged to skip it and just go home.
Wouldn’t these folks mostly be middle class suburbanites with a long commute? You have to vote near your home, not your job.
Before the 2012 election the Indiana SoS decertified a certain electronic voting machine. There is a 225+ page report explaining the machine was not trustworthy. Getting a copy should be possible through the State of Indiana Secretary of State office in Indianapolis
I have been an election judge where you need the code to start your ballot.
that code doesn’t connect to your ballot in the machine because technically someone COULD, maybe tie that number to you in order of when you signed in. It is a code to bring up the CORRECT ballot for you. Sometimes in subdivisions they don’t vote for city council or a prop on the ballot.
What I was looking for was a number on the ballot, maybe at the end (so a helpful election worker can’t see it) was an ID number that I could write down and YES, go back and check after a contested race to see if my ballot stayed the same.
to your other point:
I can’t tell you how many people I had to turn away at 6:50pm that were close to work, not home and couldn’t make the drive in time to make it before the polls close.
More counties are going to polling centers that if you live in the county you can vote at any one of them. I see the need but also like you to vote in your neighborhood so the poll workers are more likely to know you.
I hate hearing about buses going from pct to pct voting at each. No one stops them because they don’t know them and there isn’t someone outside checking for a bus.
Thanks for your clarification.
for later
Voting Machines serve one purpose. Fraud.
After Florida the fed gov. gave money to the counties that still used punch cards to get new machines.
I wanted the machine a county had where you had a paper ballot and then slipped it into the ballot box but it read it and at the end of the day you had the electronic totals.
BUT if you needed to do a recount, there were the paper ballots.
That machine wasn’t the one allowed to choose from to get the $$$. What a racket. I begged for the that machine.
Our choices...
Diebold - NEVER!
ES&S - has a device to plug in to start the ballot (made by the russian mafia - oh that is encouraging - I vote on those now)
and the E-Slate - a TX company near Austin - and overwhelmingly chosen by our county by the D’s and the R’s
The one used in this election corruption case.
