Why would you not root for the Russians over ISIS?

The fall out from ISIS is destabilizing a vast area, while the fanatics massacre & torture innocents, even as they go about destroying irreplaceable treasures.

I want them both to suffer catastrophic losses fighting each other. ISIS deservedly gets the headlines with its beheadings, etc. while Putin seizes Crimea and eastern Ukraine and threatens the Baltics and Poland in service of his dream of recreating Greater Russia.

Why would you not root for the Russians over ISIS?

At least, as Sting put it, The Russians love their children, too.
