Richard Dawkins, an evolutionary biologist and atheist, has questioned online whether the controversial clock supposedly made by a Muslim youth is part of a giant hoax.
Dawkins weighed in on the controversy via Twitter on Sunday and cited a viral Internet video by electronic expert Thomas Talbot who says 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed's clock was not made by him.
"This is simply taking a clock out of its case, and I think probably for provocative reasons, intentionally," Talbot said in the video, which has gotten more than 800,000 views on YouTube, said The Daily Beast.
"When I saw this, I thought, 'We're getting duped here.' Anybody who knows electronics really well needs less than five seconds to know that was a clock taken out of the box," said Talbot.
Dawkins supported Talbot's theory in his Twitter post, noted The Guardian, and questioned the youth's motives for bringing it to school.

Wow, now that is a kid who invented a real clock/watch! I'm impressed, as I've built small 3D enclosures (for key fobs and remotes) and it's really hard to do right. Plus this kid did his own programming via Arduino, and he is only eight. But no invite to the White Hut, unlike to the little terrorist who built a simulated bomb enclosure.
I never read it was a science project. I read he did it to impress his engineering teacher.
This was not an assignment. He claims he brought it to school to impress his engineering teacher. When his teacher saw it, she told him specifically NOT to show it to anyone else. Why the hell would be plug it in during class after being specifically told not to.
There is where the hoax part comes in. The kid got caught with it when it beeped in class. The best part, which the moronic news media completely missed, that clock has NO BATTERIES. That means the kid must have plugged it in during class for it to make any sound.
The kid stated in an interview that it was his invention. This is a flat out lie. There was nothing invented here. It was a clock pulled out of its case and stuffed into a pencil box. The boy’s father stated that he knew his son was taking it into school.
Clock boy was arrested for creating a hoax bomb. I believe it was either a prank or a publicity attempt orchestrated by his father. The whole family even got together right after the incident, smiling for a family photo on their way to their lawyers office. Their photo did not show a traumatized kid, more like a family that is about to get paid. The boy’s father is supposed to be this brilliant millionaire businessman yet he doesn’t have the common sense to tell his boy that his “clock” might not be appropriate for school.
The only way they will receive a dime is if the school district settles and I hope they dont.
Shhh! Be quiet about that, lest libs give tax incentives towards potato powered cars and such. Myself, I've used lemons, you get more electricity juice from them.

Because he got no thrill from the first few teachers he showed it to. So he plugged it in at his English class, set the alarm, and alarmed the entire class when it went off during class. That teacher being alarmed brought it to the attention of others. It definitely was an attempt to create mayhem and was a terrorist act.
He should win a series of flying lessons where they teach him only how to fly the plane.....take off and landing instructions are a waste of time. The terrorists only have to fly them into very large buildings.
I glad I got to see the Eiffel tower last month....it may not be there long.
