My preferred candidate is Cruz but he also comes with some issues.
There is no perfect candidate and here I am defending Trump and giving him a pass on things like vagueness in the face of questions such as this.
I think this is why even I give him a pass:
1. He is imminently qualified to use the bully pulpit to get the people behind him.
2. He is a proven fighter and problem solver.
3. He can do #2 effectively because he knows how to put the right team together, delegate appropriately and supervise as needed.
4. He has shown flexibility and good decision-making in his business life.
We cannot anticipate every issue a president will face, but we should know he has strengths to face whatever happens.
For example, Christie might have a perfect answer to this and other questions (doubt it, but say he did). He is not qualified. On his watch as governor, the first major challenge he endured set him to crying on TV like a little girl (nothing wrong with a man crying, but when you’re a leader, lead, cry when you are alone), and he practically made out with Obama on national TV. He proved he does not have the qualities to be president no matter what good answers he may concoct.
It is one factor that I think matters more than spouting theory and platitudes.
Rubio talks a good game, but that’s it. We’ve already had one of those....in fact lots of those. I’m sick of the lawyers.
At least he appears to have studied the subject. I've never heard a candidate, like Trump, admit he doesn't know much about a key subject and say he'll study AFTER he's elected. Trump is always given a free pass. Of course, all Trump supporters overlook any lapses by The Donald.
BTW, I'm not much of Rubio fan because of his immigration stance. I much more like The Donald's. But Trump's ignorance about many subjects and his arrogance really put me off.
There's never been a Pubbie (or Dem for that matter) candidate I've seen in over fifty years of paying attention to prez elections who has maligned other candidates of his own party like Trump has. And not only does he not seem to know much about world issues, his stances on trade and personal property rights are very disturbing. He is not a real conservative, he is a populist.
Let's face it...if it wasn't for the immigration issue Trump would be in the one percent territory. But because he's in front and right on immigration many conservatives are blind to his many faults and outright ignorance on many subjects. A president who says he's going to tell other world leaders (even allies) to go to hell is someone to be real suspicious of.
You are right about all of that.
Cruz, for me, is the better qualified and true conservative candidate; however, he is not catching fire. It’s early. We’ll see.
Strangely, for me, Trump is my second choice. I have reasons, good or not.
If Trump does not get the nomination, we should all be eternally grateful to him for his ability, by example, to take the make a mockery of political correctness.
Important.
Check out # 41 .
Thanks, Melancholy.
Looking and watching for what Trump actually says is a full-time job, because the GOPe and Democrats are both out to nail him.
He really doesn’t need their help to nail him...if he keeps this up he’ll nail himself.
I thought there was more to that non story.
I can understand that.
Seems to me Trump said he would soon be notifying us of his foreign policy team. That will tell a lot I think.
What a hoot!
Too bad you do not know what her really said.
Look, Marco Rubio sits behind a desk sometimes, and he reads stuff, and hes in committees. Thats all he does, Trump said. I create jobs all day long. Ill know more about all of this than all of them put together. Believe me, well have a winning strategy.
They can’t ‘nail’ him on this. Go away, troll.
You’re quite welcome.
You’re welcome.
The progressive/commie/GOPe Alinsky-style editing is designed for low info voters and “Englisss speeekers” consumption. They don’t need no steeenkin’ englissss!
Take off a verb add a common “unnoticeable” word, et voila, a terribly idiotic statement by your opponent.
No matter what the bastards do, the truth will win out.
Come on, Rubio had nothing to do with letting Iran get nukes and we both know it. I appreciate that you like Trump, and I will vote for him should he get the nomination. If you stay home because you guy doesn’t get the nod, then it’s a vote for a liberal administration, far far beyond whatever evil a RINO would bring.
Those who stayed home in 2012 because Romney was a RINO, “ voted” for BHO. Has it made them happy or feel better? Is the country better off?
We have to remember that basically we are o the same side. I am not your enemy.
He’s part of the GOPe that allowed Iran to get nukes, and funded Obamacare, and fund PP, and will provide illegals citizenship and benefits...
Trump....”I Know More About Syria Than Marco Rubio.... Because .....I Create Jobs All Day”
So the guy with no hotels or golf courses in Syria... and who admits getting his foreign policy advice off of TV,.... who thinks it is “unfortunate” that presidential candidates have to talk about foreign policy,... who equates his “job creation” to the complex international crisis in Syria.... knows more about the situation in Syria than the guy with access to classified information....Got it.
It’s pretty clear from Trumps responses that he is unprepared and seemingly uninterested.....he simply recycles the same rote and grade school level answers for every question. ...He doesn’t have a clue, so he has to resort to this sort of thing time and again... He has not done his homework and it is showing clearly.
LOL!
The President doesn’t need to know everything that someone in Congress might know. It is why he has Department Secretaries in his cabinet.
As for Marco Rubio — he isn’t eligible to be President. Neither of his parents were US citizens when he was born.
...”The President doesnt need to know everything that someone in Congress might know”...
That’s pure rubbish because most of us know what’s going on with Syria....Trump does as well...at issue is he had zip-zero nothing to offer when asked a perfectly normal question regarding Syria.....he was simply unprepared and it was obvious. Jobs had nothing to do with the question...his response was just another attempt to “escape” showing he was not prepared.
You make as much sense as any other single issue voter.
The situation in Syria will probably change, and soon. No, he doesn’t need to know anything about Syria at this moment.
I still see you’re trying to cover for Trump....isn’t working...he didn’t know and wasn’t prepared to give any intelligent answer other then he gets jobs....foolish response to say the least.
