Pope Francis Scolds Congress for Gun and Weapons Sales
Breitbart ^

Posted on 09/24/2015 6:18:04 PM PDT by Red in Blue PA

On September 24, Pope Francis scolded Congress for guns and weapons which are manufactured in America and sold around the world.

He said he was determined “to minimize and, in the long term, to end the many armed conflicts throughout our world,” as he addressed the billion-dollar sales from American companies that he sees as a contributing factor to conflicts abroad.

According to The Intercept, Pope Francis said:

Here we have to ask ourselves: Why are deadly weapons being sold to those who plan to inflict untold suffering on individuals and society? Sadly, the answer, as we all know, is simply for money: money that is drenched in blood, often innocent blood. In the face of this shameful and culpable silence, it is our duty to confront the problem and to stop the arms trade.

The author does not quote Francis in Full:

Being at the service of dialogue and peace also means being truly determined to minimize and, in the long term, to end the many armed conflicts throughout our world.

He was talking about murderers in armed conflicts not weapon sales in general

Let him disband his Swiss Guard, or at least disarm them.

I tried to give this Pope the benefit of the doubt, but after today I just can’t anymore.

I dislike him because he is a Marxist. He also has zero understanding of the climate, he does want to punish those who make and develop weapons that keep us safe and is silent when speaking to Congress on the very things he should have moral standing on like abortion and gay marriage. It should have been an opportunity to speak of Jesus and eternal salvation in His sacrifice. We all know Congress could stand to be reminded

I’m sorry to Catholics, but he is nothing but a typical liberal, comfortable with communists and socialists.

Next Francis will condemn to hell pressure cooker makers, nails manufacturers, and potassium nitrate. Of course, he will ban cell phones. Lots of people dead because of them.

While the world burns in flames and in Africa and Middle East there an unabated holocaust of Christians, or the millions of unborn babies murdered by abortion; for Pope Francis and president Obama, their top priority is to exploit the hoax of the global warming to distract the people over much bigger crisis.

I wonder if the pope would have been opposed to America’s Lend / Lease program with Britain at the start of World War II.

I’ve said in the past that I would strongly try to dissuade my sons from enlisting in the US military today; I would do the same if any of them felt a calling to the priesthood. Priests could take their vows under the most faithful bishops, and when he retires he could be replaced with an absolute fruitcake (and those vows would still be binding). We had a situation like that in my diocese decades ago; the archbishop was apparently forced out a year before his retirement age (though his defenders maintain he stepped down for health reasons) - he wouldn’t remove his imprimatur from a textbook, and Cardinal Ratzinger had to publicly demand it (Time Magazine even ran a piece on it at the time). I believe he is the oldest living bishop in the Church today; guess his health was just fine thirty years ago...

I heard the Pope was going to North Korea and Iran next to scold them for exporting both terrorism AND weapons.

Funny thing, though. When the Pope was in Cuba a couple of days ago he didn’t warn THEM about exporting weapons and terrorism.

He’s Catholic in the Jesuit tradition, so of course he wants to help the poor. That doesn’t make him a Marxist.

He did address the issues of life and marriage in his speech to Congress, though his language wasn’t as forceful as many of us might’ve hoped. Still, he made the point.

He didn’t speak against people making weapons to protect anyone. He spoke out against the arms trades to people who would do harm.

Did the Pope mention the AK-47 or the RPG-7? The AK is the world’s most popular weapon and has outsold any US manufactured weapon.
