This is a cynical ploy by the GOPe to throw us some red meat so we’ll all calm down and quit mucking up their plans to nominate a RINO. My guess is Boehner had been pulled into a closed door meeting, confronted with polling data and given an ultimatum shortly before meeting the Pope.
The ploy is not gonna work IMHO.

My take is that the GOP-E could care less abut us.
Boehner simply does not want to be responsible for something that is about to happen, up to including the government shutdown over Planned Parenthood.
The new fiscal year starts in five days.
I ahve been involved in executive transitions.
What Boehner did showed a complete lack of care for”The Insitution”.
He said today that he made up his mind this morning that this was a good day to do this.
The GOP-e wanted Boehner to stay. He also said he planned to quit at the end of 2014, but Cantor got bounced out, so he thought it would be best if he stayed. That was the GOP-E talking, and who knows what he got for staying another 10 months.
It. would have been better if he left a year ago.
Between him and McConnell we have wasted nine months of 2015 with their cowardice and fecklessness.
But make no mistake about it, they and Obama are on the same team.
LEt’s hope this golden opportunity to redirect the House is not wasted on Kevin McCarthy or another GOP-E mope.
