Hillary Clinton Email Inquiry Weighs if Aides Erred at ‘Send’
New York Times ^ | September 24, 2015 | ERIC LIPTON and MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT

WASHINGTON — The email described a deteriorating situation in Libya, with snipers shooting people in the streets as rebels tried to unseat President Muammar el-Qaddafi and worried American diplomats in the midst of a “phased checkout” from Benghazi. It arrived in the private email account of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, one Sunday morning in April 2011, with unforeseen consequences.

That email, which included an update from the Africa Command of the Department of Defense detailing Libyan military movements, is part of the evidence that law enforcement officials say the F.B.I. is now examining as it tries to determine whether aides to Mrs. Clinton mishandled delicate national security information when they communicated with their boss.

The Libyan dispatch, written by an aide to Mrs. Clinton and then forwarded to her by Huma Abedin, one of her top advisers, should have been considered classified, according to intelligence officials. And, they say, other emails to Mrs. Clinton they have found, including one addressing North Korea’s nuclear weapons system and a third discussing United States drone strikes in Pakistan, should have been marked “Top Secret.”

Still odd that the NYT is even covering this Clinton crime at all. Maybe lefties know Hillary is a loser and are working to ease her out of the nomination.

Maybe they want to get this over with and buried before Chelsea gets implicated, too.

Yeah I heard her argument. She may have the authority to delete anything but once she knew or suspected that the info would be needed for a coming subpoena and she deleted it, it is simple obstruction no matter what her self described notions about her authorities of what is and what is not classified were. Anyone else would be behind bars already.

Thinking ahead a tad, obstruction is also a predicate for a RICO matter. If any of these things are involved in the Clinton Crime Family Foundation, a pro prosecution department could look to RICO charges. Of course this will never happen, ever, that is a former State secretary and former President going to the pen but this group truly deserves it. Incidentally, an individual can bring a civil RICO case and I am certain the Clintoons are aware of this and will do everything to ensure no evidence of any wrong doing reaches the public.

More that they ARE still spinning it that “THE AIDES” are guilty of “sending” classified information by emails.

Thus, “HILLARY” is innocent of anything. Innocent of EVERYTHING, by implication and continuation! Right?

Even if Mrs. Clinton’s aides simply summarized classified material provided to them by others — as opposed to forwarding her a classified document — they may have violated federal laws that govern how intelligence information is handled, experts in government classification laws said.

Many have concluded that this was the method. Abedin was a state dept. employee as well as Clinton's aide. Abedin was sent the emails through the secure account, summarized the info and sent it on to Clinton. Others besides Abedin may have done the same.

Mishandling of TS material is a crime whether you send it or receive it, as I understand it. Clinton is running out of excuses. Abedin's on the hot seat now. Wonder how she'll wiggle out of it without going to prison.

I just don't understand how naive they all were/are that they thought they could just push the delete button and whitewash the electronic trail forever.

As I understand it, mishandling of TS information is a crime whether you were on the sending end of it or the receiving end.

Abedin had to know this. Clinton had to know this. They devised a system which gave Clinton plausible deniability.

This is written largely as a defense of Hillary, IMHO. It’s emphasized in the article that ‘aides might not have known that material was classified’, that ‘there’s no evidence the emails were hacked or did any harm’, etc.

No you would not still be in jail - that’s were you are sent before your conviction. You would still be in Danbury Federal PRISON doing your 10 to 20 or more.

If you did what Hillary did, you would get life at best. The material she sent is as far above TS as the President is above your local sheriff. Worse she not only sent and received it but gave it to everyone else - Russians, Chinese. Still worse, stripping out the local server code out will reveal links to Federal servers, granting access to whomever gets it - likely how China gained ‘Admin’ privileges of some federal servers, and likely leading to the OPM hack of millions of records of classified workers personal data - which could even impact their children.

Hillary for the Wall.

Concur.

But the State Department emails were (almost certainly) NOT was Hillary so desperately trying to “isolate” with this personal email account and deliberately going out of her way to “isolate” HERSELF from the Department of State day-to-day functions.

By setting up a separate server and a completely independent communication network between “Hillary” and the rest of the world, SHE could “isolate” herself from all traces of HER MONEY and influences and backdoor deals. Clinton Foundation money? Deals with Bill and HIS bankers and fund-raising and overseas supporters and HER overseas money and power and influence and IMF loans and bank loans and UN development money and speaking fees and “tours” and vacations and power?

INVISIBLE to the rest of the world! Just as she needed it!

Hillary never cared about "her state department" and its processes and needs. She didn't CARE about ANY United States secrets or ITS allies or even its enemies. That she was an isolated photo-op stepping stone to HER White House position (and its future money!) was ALL she ever cared about.

Nah. This is just the Clintons' way of clearing the decks.

Get all the bad information out way before the election so that later on, when it's brought up, they can say, "That's old news. We talked all about that last year."

“She may have the authority to delete anything”

She has no authority to delete official government documents. That statement she made is for the general public to believe.

My comment was the set up to the rest of my comment. Yeah she has no such authority but even so, she is subject to obstruction charges and I strongly feel the info that was deleted leads to a RICO charge regarding the Foundation if the government or some private citizen decides to pursue it. And yes, the dolt 500K new head of the foundation could also be roped into this fraud albeit she is probably not smart enough to know that.
