U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, released the following statement after Speaker John Boehner announced his resignation from the position of Speaker of the House:
"America is at an incredibly perilous time in our history; we need bold leadership more than ever, and the Speaker now has graciously given us that opportunity."
"Due in part to the massive shift in power away from the most accountable representatives of the people to a President and five judges, we have needed leadership with vision for the future that did not continue the downhill slide. A goal to simply slow the losses of liberty and opportunity is not what is needed."
"So often, after being elected to Congress, members have the goal drilled into their head that there is nothing nobler than being a "team player." Football and our military are deep passions of mine, but their metaphorical uses in Congress are often inappropriate. For an appropriate use of the sports metaphor, too often "being a team player" has disguised the fact that a play has been called that has us running toward the wrong goal line."
"As members of Congress, we should be accountable to our constituents and nation more than any earthly responsibility. For the vast majority, we understand that ultimately we will all kneel accountably before God."
"As Speaker Boehner moves on to a new chapter in his life, I truly wish both him and his family well. I have nothing but best wishes for him, wherever he will be."
"My fervent prayers are with the country at this defining moment. It's past time that we, as a body, stand firmly for those who are being oppressed by government and take up the torch of liberty to ensure this flame of freedom is not extinguished for the generations that follow us."

The best
Well, maybe not...the best.
Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.)
I agree. Louie would serve us well.
Hehe
Very gracious of you, too, Louie (who would indeed make a great Speaker). Boehner knew he was going to lose this power struggle, so he left the mess he had an integral part in creating ... just before the non-existent Budget is due - how “special and gracious”! Please take Turtleman with you.
Would love to see Gohmert as the next Speaker.
I agree.
Louie Gohmert for Speaker! A real conservative!
Who’ll nominate?
“too often “being a team player” has disguised the fact that a play has been called that has us running toward the wrong goal line.”
I love this guy. He would be a great speaker as far as courage and conservative convictions are concerned but he is not a polished orator (of course neither is Boehner nor McConnell), which is certainly helpful in this mass media age.
Nicely done, Louie....
KEVIN McCARTHY (Boehner’s choice to succeed him as Speaker)
PROS:
Republican (not that THAT means anything any more!)
CONS:
Boehner’s handpicked Majority Leader. (And we all know how suspect was Boehner’s judgement.)
From California (Not that they’re all nuts out there, but most of them ARE seriously deranged.)
Ranked 142 of the 435 members of the House (a B-)
(Boehner was a C and ranked 221)
Supports AMNESTY!
THEN THERE IS THIS. There are numerous reports that McCarthy, who is married, had or is having an affair with a married female member of Congress. Please do your OWN research if you believe this could be a problem for McCarthy. Here’s why it could be:
During the effort to impeach Bill Clinton, Newt Gingrich was having a secret (to everyone outside the Beltway) affair with Calista Bassick (who is now his wife). It’s believed in some quarters that the Democrats used the threat of going public with that information to keep Gingrich quiet during the impeachment effort. It worked and Clinton survived. Although with all the skeletons in their closets, the Dems would have to be nuts to do so (that said, I give you Debbie Wasseman Schultz!), do we really need another MARRIED high GOP official who may have trouble keeping his pants on and could easily be blackmailed if he refuses to go along to get along?
For what it’s worth, one final comment: I list below 9 folks who would quickly get MY support for Speaker. They are the top ranked Reps. at GRADEGOV.COM. These folks are pretty hard core conservatives and may not even have a chance to win the slot given the number of spineless weasels STILL in office up there.
That said, I’d ask you to remember that it was PREVIOUS MIDDLE OF THE ROADERS who got us into this mess. And the two things most often found in the middle of the road are DEAD SKUNKS and YELLOW STREAKS!
RANKING ARE FROM GRADEGOV.COM AND BASED ON VOTES CAST BY CITIZENS!
1.R. Blum (R) IA-1st A
2.D. Brat (R) VA A
3.C. Clawson (R) FL A
4.MARTHA Roby (R) AL-2nd A
5.T. Gowdy (R) SC-4th A
6.B. Posey (R) FL-8th A-
7.M. Lee (R) UT A-
8.J. Wilson (R) SC-2nd A-
9.L. Gohmert (R) TX-1st A-
PS: I’d love to see Trey Gowdy get the job but would be happy with any of these folks. Trey as speaker would have the Dems and RINOs wetting themselves!
PPS: Martha Roby would be an excellent choice just to watch Pelosi burst into flames on the floor!!
Fellow Georgian DR. TOM PRICE RANKED 29 (A SOLID B)
and the Speaker now has graciously given us that opportunity.
**************
In other words, with the long standing obstruction finally removed we can now put a real leader in place who will start the constructive process of promoting a conservative agenda.
Pure class...
[Would love to see Gohmert as the next Speaker.]
Let it be so.
"As Speaker Boehner moves on to a new chapter in his life, I truly wish both him and his family well. I have nothing but best wishes for him, wherever he will be."
Gohmert Is A Class Act!
He Would Make A Great Speaker!
However, I don't Have The Class Gohmert does....
I truly wish Boehner would trip and fall in one of his drunken stupors.....
and break his fool neck!
See? I told you I have no class!
JOHN BOEHNER: The Very Best DemocRAT Speaker Ever!
Louie Gohmert would be my choice but sadly its going to be McCarthy.
D Brat would be a nice stick in the eye to the GOPee.
Spoken well as one Christian to another child of our God and King!
I doubt McCarthy is capable of learning the lesson of Cantor.
