Donning flame suit here...

SO, what has Governor Palin done recently besides activism and criticism of elected officials?

The speculation that Boehner is going to be a "lobbyist" is just that, and a mean thing to say, but it did get her attention.

I used to really like her, but this kind of thing is not helpful. I wish she would either do something constructive (like run for office again) or else refrain from useless "blogging", which accomplishes nothing but stirring up anger, which also accomplishes nothing. These are serious times, FRiends.

Isn’t it strange that there is never any
democrat turmoil, no splits, no chaos,
no chasms...it’s all lock step and no one
questions why?

“Resigning the Speakership is one thing, resigning from Congress entirely is another. Has Boehner fallen so badly in his own home district to prompt this, or is something else at play? It concerns me, what is in store, if Boehner has nothing to lose, and now he doesn’t.”

Yes there is something else at play. Boehner wants to spend most of his time now in Florida, in his new Condo somewhere near Marco Island on the West Coast, and sunbathe himself pure orange while drinking at the local pubs he has already been seen at with some frequency. I think it is as simple as that.

They are competitors.. (try to pay attention)

They're buddies, and not attacking each other. (try to pay attention)

The girls seem to be completely at ease with Mrs Trump.

Cruz’s daughters must be complicit in this charade: “Alright kids, just try not to cry and look terrified of the strange mean lady....just for the picture...OK?”

Well, either that or, they see her often and really like her.

Well, it would only reduce his potential salary as a high-paid lobbyist if he went back to being a backbencher for a while. Better to quit the game while still the reigning champion.

So far there is absolutely NO reason to think there is any scandal impending on Boehner that would cause him to leave Congress. He has NOT fallen in his home district, here in Ohio.

There is also no reason to think that there's anything wrong with wanting to retire to Florida, at least for the winter....there are hundreds/thousands of North Coast people who do that.

At least you did not accuse him of wanting to be a "lobbyist", LOL!

How about THIS: what's "at play" here is, the Speaker's job is impossible. Boehner's been in Congress many years, and the diverse members of the GOP House have become increasingly fractious about working together as a majority.

Speaker Boehner has done an honorable job (check his record more closely if you disagree - you'll be surprised) and the man is just worn out with all of this. Hardly surprising.

What is wrong with sunbathing? or having a drink at the local pub? or RETIRING?? It may not appear very "noble", but he deserves credit for stepping down, rather than putting the House through another Speaker challenge, which he likely would have won, again.

Some younger Congressman said, "he would have been a great Speaker in 1994"...WELL, can we just leave it at that?

IMHO, Boehner's served well for a long time, and has done as much as he could under the various circumstances, so can we just civilly disagree about that without impugning the man's reputation? He's leaving; how much more do you want from him?! sheesh!
