I’m certain it is legal to have sex at 19, that does not make it right. It is legal for the federal government to set the tax rate at any level they want, that does not make it right. I am speaking about her moral responsibilities and her father’s. One cannot say she can run around and do what ever she wants and dad has to accept it. If he has a moral responsibility to respect her she has a moral responsibility to behave.

I certainly did not say that it was alright, I merely pointed out that at 19 she is legally an adult, can make her own decisions, and unless she is living at home, should not be subject to her father's discipline.

I disagree. Even if she is not at home, her father should have some say and some influence. If she totally eschews his advice she should expect nothing from him. More than likely, she was living at home in which case he has more authority.

Sorry if I misunderstood. She was doing something to diminish his respect toward her and she may have been doing it as an open sign of disrespect toward him. Who know? This is of course assuming that a Muslim can respect a woman or a daughter.
