Indeed. What the middle east doesn’t need is someone who leads from behind. Obama turned the US into a bit player and bit players don’t get leading roles. Putin, and for that matter ISIS, knows what he wants and how to get it. Obama draws lines in the sand, then runs away.
We don’t have many “Pin Prick” attacks going on in Syria anyway, Why not focus on Iraq. Do we want dogfights with Migs over Syria? Are we the air arm of ISIS as the Ruskies say we are? We would not work with Russia—keeping up the ASSAD MUST GO mantra we have been echoing for years—so they tell us to Get Out! I say let Putin have his way.
