Well, Padre, they ARE European Christians, popular notions on FR about the Orthodox to the contrary notwithstanding. Now it could be they are not being called crusaders because crusaders were Latins, not Orthodox, but I doubt the Mohammedan jihadis are making that distinction. I think it’s a safe bet they are being or will be called crusaders.
