She did the job the government failed to do. That said, she did wrong.

She was NOT “protecting her children”.

Sarah Sands is more than welcome to move in to my neighborhood. Hell, I would even co-sign for the house next door.

Based on the excerpt here, I was pretty convinced that what she did was clearly wrong. But after reading the entire article, I'm more conflicted. The guy has 24 child sex offense convictions and is out on bail for two more. The kids are under 13 years old. Clearly the justice system was failing the community here.

Michael Pleasted’s long list of crimes began in 1970 and spanned three decades. He racked up 24 convictions for child sex offenses and was on bail for allegedly sexually assaulting two children younger than 13. The assaults were said to have taken place at the estate where Sands and her children lived.

Yes, this was a horrid, despicable man. No, she was not justified in stabbing him to death just because of her understandable revulsion. On the day the final encounter is described, this man did nothing to put her or her children in inimate danger.

Yes, he lived next door, which was frightening and disgusting. No, she cannot walk about knifing every person who frightens and disgusts her. Nobody can. If she were a male single parent, or if she had not been a sweet faced young lady with a good complexion, I guarantee she would have been dealt with more harshly.
That said, this man should have been either executed or imprisoned for life many years ago.

Mother Gets Off Easy for Killing Pedophile Who Lived Next Door

...she was handed just three years for manslaughter. She could be out in less than 11 months.

They should have given the prosecutor and parole agent 25 each years .

Just doing the job the justice system refused to do.

3 1/2 years is a bit harsh in my book. I would have let her out on bail and then set the trial for January 2115.

Vigilantism, pure and simple. Now if the perp was in the act of attacking then certainly it`s self defense, but he wasn`t. Otherwise, it`s open season on anyone who offends, that`s not rule of law.

Granted he should be under a jail, and it`s a screaming admission of the failure of the justice system where she resides, BUT, SHE`S not judge, jury and executioner. So it`s vigilantism and she needs to be punished.

How much, and/or what that punishment should be is debatable, but while they`re at it, the judge who released this animal needs to go to jail as well.

Just thought I’d add this story to the mix. Ellie Nesler was hailed as a heroine for killing her son’s molester. IIRC, he smirked at her as she went up to testify at his preliminary hearing and she snapped. She pulled out a gun ans shot him. This article has a lot of details that were not apparent at the time she killed. Sad, messy story, but I remember the t-shirts that said ‘nice shootin’, Ellie!’.

She didn’t run from her crimes. She didn’t try to cover them up. Her confession and her remorse played a big role in her sentencing Wednesday, when she was handed just three years for manslaughter. She could be out in less than 11 months.

Next week is less than 11 months.

She may have been protecting her children. But I think she went there with the intent to kill the guy (which is Premeditated Murder). Otherwise why take the knife with you?

If as she says, she just wanted to talk and the ped didn't. She could have just walked away if she didn't have the knife with her? But the smirk was the straw that pushed her to act.

I'm glad the perv is dead. But she should be doing more time than 3 years (18months?).

In a FUNCTIONAL SOCIETY no person would have to put up with having perverts living next store, when they have kids. The perverts would be sent to a place where they were SEPARATED from kids.

...but then this is England.
