Perhaps I am not ‘with it’, but I have questioned the rationale of giving hormones of the opposite sex to teens who are confused about their gender. If a boy feels feminine, why not give him a low dose of testosterone to help him over the teen years until he is more mature? The same would be true for a girl who thinks she should be a boy. Give her a small dose of estrogen until she is older.
I do not understand the rationale of treating a developing adolescent with hormones of the opposite sex. It would just reinforce their confusion. If they decide to go ahead with a transformation, at least they should be legally adults to do so.
Transgenders’ complain that if they don’t get the hormones soon enough, they’ll get the physical changes they don’t want. One said he didn’t want his jaw to grow big. I have no idea if getting the opposite sex’s hormones stops normal physical maturation, but that’s what they’re hoping.
