We had one of those shootings around here in Western PA about 6 years ago by a nutcase fitting that description, though he wasn’t jobless. He actually had worked at the same place as a good friend of mine.

As long as the media sensationalizes these incidents, they’ll continue to be the method of choice for suicide-by-cop for punks who feel insignificant.
As long as schools remain soft targets for maximum effect, we’ll see this scene played out.
Strike the perpetrator’s names from history, remember the victims, and stop repeating the details around the clock in 24-hour news cycle for weeks on end, and this all goes away.
Or a method of execution that fits the crime for those captured rather than killed may also offer some deterrent effect. Lashing them to a rock in the ocean and letting sea life eat them away comes to mind.
