I really hate to say this, but Chauncey Vega, I think, is on to something. His thesis, which started with the Elliot Rogers shooting/stabbing in Isla Vista is that there is a subculture of males who believe they are entitled to sex women, and who lash out when it is denied to them. He calls this “aggrieved white male entitlement syndrome” (See http://www.alternet.org/culture/santa-barbara-mass-shooting-elliot-rodger-and-aggrieved-white-male-entitlement-syndrome).

If you can look past De Vega’s obvious hatred of white people, his larger point is an interesting one. With this shooting, we have two acts of mass violence by “manosphere” devotees in two years. That can’t be a coincidence. Something is going on here. It may have to do with the sexualization of our culture, our culture’s devaluing of male virtues, the rise of feminism, or what have you, but something is going on here.
