Karl Rove: Boehner’s Conservative Legacy. Speaker has achieved far more than his GOP critics have
Wall Street Journal ^ | 10/01/2015 | Karl Rove

Posted on 10/01/2015 2:32:23 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

John Boehner is a decent, honorable man who displayed his deep commitment to country and party last week, announcing that he will resign from the House of Representatives in October and relinquish the speaker’s gavel.

Mr. Boehner would have easily beaten any challenge to his leadership. But having decided some time ago that a quarter-century in Congress was enough, he chose to spare his Republican colleagues and the institution he loves a bruising fight.

As Republicans’ leader in the House, Mr. Boehner’s record has been impressive. He marshaled united GOP opposition to President Barack Obama’s stimulus and to ObamaCare. He led the GOP House in forcing Mr. Obama in 2011 to agree to spending caps that slashed $2.1 trillion from federal outlays over a decade. This reduced the federal government’s share of the economy from 24% of GDP to 21%—a figure only slightly above its post-World War II average.

When Mr. Obama planned to dramatically increase income and other taxes at the beginning of 2013, Mr. Boehner forced him to keep President George W. Bush’s tax cuts intact for 99% of Americans. All this did far more to shrink Washington than the government shutdown pushed by the speaker’s intraparty critics.

The straight-talking, chain-smoking Ohioan was also the architect of this year’s entitlement reforms. Each year for nearly the past 20, Congress spent time crafting a short-term “doc fix” to stave off mandated cuts in Medicare payments to doctors. Mr. Boehner engineered a permanent solution to the problem and, in the process, passed the first significant reforms in entitlement spending in a decade.

Since his first days in Congress, Mr. Boehner has opposed earmarks as wasteful and corrupting, and he ended their use when he became speaker.

If he isn’t competent to serve, he should have retired years ago when he first started breaking down in public.

Boehner IS The Best Alcoholic On Capitol Hill!

Click Any Pic To Enlarge

He’s also a closet chain-smoker, fond of the Barclay’s brand, rumored to be able to suck half a pack down in a matter of minutes if given a proper recess.

The son of a bar owner, Boehner worked alongside his father mopping the floors at Andy’s Café when he was in elementary school. Perhaps that’s where he first developed his taste for booze, but today, Congressman Boehner resembles a modern day Dean Martin of sorts, even leading a social life the legendary crooner would envy.

He’s made a name for himself with his legendary late-night parties which he first began throwing at the 1996 Republican National Convention. Nicknamed the “Best Little Warehouse” party, Boehner, (along with Bruce Gates, a tax lobbyist with Washington Council Ernst & Young and head of Mr. Boehner’s Freedom Project PAC and prominent lobbyist Henry Gandy) are known for throwing a party at the RNC that runs multiple days, often lasts until dawn and exceeds $100,000.

When Boehner replaced Tom Delay and was elected as Majority Leader back in 2006, disclosure reports filed with the FEC show that Boehner (or his representatives), spent $1,465 at the “classy” liquor store Schneider’s of Capitol Hill on February 3rd, the very next day after he was elected as leader. Clearly a celebration was in order. The bill was paid by Boehner’s slush fund, errr leadership PAC, The Freedom Project.

At the Convention, Boehner gave two awkward, drunken speeches that were embarrassing, somewhat uncomfortable, and confusing at best for those in attendance. The man could not pronounce a name if his life depended on it.(Click For More)

Can you imagine any other profession, business or industry where a guy who quite often breaks down into uncontrolled weeping spasms, until he regains control of himself—or is possessed by some other severe character flaw—is promoted to the top job?
Only government—state, local or federal.

Boehner’s Conservative Legacy. Speaker has achieved far more than his GOP critics have.

Boehner achievements include astounding progress in the liberal agenda and the thwarting of any resistance to the ever expanding state, the growing tyranny and the loss of standing in the world.

Why under Boehner socialized medicine was passed (he was not speaker at the time but blocked the attempts to derail) and FUNDED, the border remains a sieve, not one annual budget was passed as is required by the constitution, instead a perpetual cycle of continuing resolutions and the accompanying "crises", abortion providers continue to receive tax dollars, the IRS has expanded their political strong-arming, the EPA has plenty of money to destroy businesses and occasionally pollute a river, the illegal actions of the executive branch continue without a real congressional investigation, debt has skyrocketed, and the tea-party was marginalized with contempt so that the fat cat establishment GOP can continue to receive their big K-street "donations".... I'm just getting started.

Perhaps Rove could explain how anything would have been different if Pelosi was the speaker.

“Of course its true. He’s just wearing the wrong team jersey.”

You got it!

Plus, Boehner is a bully who punishes congresspeople who act like real conservatives.

“Let’s not ignore the good he’s done. Boehner is a GOPe hack, but credit him with those things he’s done well.”

Why should I?

I give him credit for absolutely nothing.

You don’t give the arsonist credit for doing the dishes before burning down the house. That’s not how it works.

The U.S Chamber of Commerce is reportedly gearing up to spend $100 million dollars to bury the Tea Party and the rebellious right. I wonder what Karl’s share of that will be?

Let’s not ignore the good he’s done.

Pardon me if I haven't been watching Boehner over the twenty five years he's been in Congress, but what GOOD has he ever done?

Benedict Arnold by most accounts was a good if not great Revolutuonary War leader. Should we give him credit for that?

Once Boehner decided to toss the Hastert Rule and use Democrat support to bypass the will of the people that gave his party a majority, any goodwill to give him credit was tossed as well.

Good riddance to the Crying Cheeto.
