By now, it is well established that capitalism is fundamentally built upon threats of force. As libertarian philosophers Robert Nozick and Matt Zwolinski have explained, the only way to turn unowned natural resources (such as land, minerals and other goods) into privately owned property is by violently preventing all others from using them. This one-sided exclusion destroys freedom of movement and cuts many people off from the things that they need to survive.

This article is hilarious. He condemns capitalism by arguing that it is based on force—the state keep people off your property.
Then he argues that a “universal, basic income” would be great! Which, of course, would be based on force to get the money to pay the income.
All force is created equal. Only some force is more equal than others?
Why distinguish between natural and man-made resources?
I have land - I have a garden on that land. I want neither squatters nor pilferers.
Perhaps I would like to avail myself of the homes, cars, offices, and bank accounts of Messrs. Nozick, Zwolinki, and Bruenig. Would they call the forces of state-sponsored violence to stop me?

This whole idea of a “universal basic income” for everyone is completely insane. Wouldn’t it be better to just give each person in the U.S. a trillion dollar coin instead of a “universal basic income” coin? After all, the cost to make a “universal basic income” coin is the same as the cost to make a trillion dollar coin, and everyone would be RICH with the trillion dollar coin and not have to exist at just a subsistence level with the “universal basic income” coin. Everyone could buy anything they wanted and no one would ever have to work again.
The coins could be made from a base metal, so they would be cheap to make, and a few extra ones could be minted for the government itself, so taxes could be completely eliminated and yet government could still function. It’s such an elegant solution I don’t know why it hasn’t been implemented yet.
For myself, I’m going to start by buying a pony and the Broncos NFL football team. And I won’t even need pony food stamps anymore to feed my pony because I’ll be so rich.
I hope you aren’t thinking I approve of this dummy’s article. The author of the article would be one of the first ones stood up against a wall and shot, in his utopia.
I disagree with Matt not because of political and philosophical differences, I disagree with him because I think he’s criminally insane and I’m not!
