Not so, according to the New York Times, which reported that after the execution of her husband, foreign minister Galeazzo Ciano for "treason" by the "Italian Social Republic," the Nazi puppet regime headed by her father Benito Mussolini, she wrote to him, "You are no longer my father for me. For a while, Edda had a city named after her. After the Italians invaded and occupied Albania in 1939, they renamed the southern port city of Sarandë Porto Edda.
