Well what would they be a priest of, if they were no longer a Catholic?
So, just wondering, what is the eternal status of Judas Iscariot considered to be then? Is he still an ordained apostle... How does the Catholic Church view him and is it the same or different from modern apostates?
It means his authorities, rights, and privileges as a priest have been taken away. Forced laicization, if you will. There were a bunch of priests who were defrocked when there were child sexual abuse charges against them.
