The flip side of that is that no one in the media is asking why the mother allowed her mentally unstable son to keep an arsenal of guns in her apartment. My only answer to that is that asking such questions would draw attention to the fact that she is black, and so - therefore - is her son, thereby undermining the "white supremacist" theme.
