I don’t agree with him at all on this.....but besides Cruz everyone else running is a joke. So if Trump is the last one standing he gets my vote.

It wasn’t eminent domain. it was his insistence approving of the kelo case of wealth transfer by government gun from one citizen to another less deserving. nothing to do with eminent domain. Trump doesn’t understand the difference. and kelo is big government.

Many times the ultimate imminent domain are the damn presidential executive orders.

Please tell me what this has to do with anything.

The SCOTUS made their Ruling Years ago and Eminent Domain Laws were upheld. Agree or disagree, it makes no difference.

Do people here expect a President Trump to issue an EO like Obama does and make Eminent Domain just go away? How about all the other Republicans, will they do it?

His support of Eminent Domain was discussed here Months ago.

A Property Developer supports Eminent Doman. Wow, pretty soon Cats and Dogs will want to get Married to each other.

Isn’t a wall between US and Mexico going to require eminent domain? Was this question a trap that Trump avoided?

If those against eminent domain had any self respect they would refuse to take advantage of the spoils of eminent domain by staying off state and federal highways, not accepting deliveries sent on public roads, disconnect from utiliies and refusing to use airports and railroads. Such use is taking advantage of stolen property.

The Fox Special Report's panel was piss poor. They were a waste of time. I changed channels.

Regarding eminent domain, hold outs and Ms. Vera Coking, below are the facts that support Trump. Bottom line Coking was offered millions of dollars for her house. She ended up getting $595,000. There were three hold outs in total. The other two hold outs collected $2.1 and $1.9 million. You didn't hear these facts from the panel. Boy am I disappointed. And these two guys are supposed be on our side.

When it comes to Private Property Rights, here is the real reason you should take the 5th Amendment:

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

The key is "just compensation".

It depends on the circumstances, and the defined public interest.

Roads, highways, water plants, removing blight are all reasonable uses.

The whole tax revenue thing up in CT was the poster child for bad policy and a questionable decision in the courts.

I’m certainly not a fan of eminent domain. But I’m not going to let an issue that has 0.1% of the impact that the number one issue has (illegals) move me away from Trump. I REALLY don’t like H1B visa expansion and I think it has a lot more impact than eminent domain, but I’m not letting that take me away from Cruz.

Besides, if you don’t like the direction eminent domain is going thank our pals in the black robes again.

I’m not a big fan of eminate domain. It’s very hard to take. That being said as a property owner living in an area consider prime commercial or widening roads and carving into my yard! It’s a double jeopardy situation. You get screwed either way! I have a business across the street from me and I fought against it. I live in a prime commercial area only because I face a highway.

I cannot understand what the controversy is. Eminent Domain is in the Constitution. Trump has no control over Eminent Domain.
All our highways have been built as a result of Eminent Domain.

I suggest that the venom being spewed out over a dead issue like Eminent Domain should be reserved for the trade deals that ALL the Republicans voted for. That will touch your lives in ways that Eminent Domain never will.

There are three threads at least on Trump’s comments on Eminent Domain. The folks going zonkers are already anti-Trump. Any one with any brains knows that there is a lot more at stake here than a sloppy Supreme Court decision, which was wrong. I disagree with Trump on this, BUT there is far more at stake in the election. If the Moslem President lets in a bunch of Jihadis unchallenged, what good will a bunch of whining about eminent domain be worth. The Imam will just kill you to take your house for new mosque. Trump is right on so much else. Go Trump.

It’s provided for in the Constitution. Government can take your property provided it’s for a public purpose and you are paid just compensation. If the Founders were OK with that, so am I.

Can you imagine using your property to raise your family as several generations have done and then find that a guy that looks and talks like Trump is telling you that the world will be a better place if the government forces you to sell the property to Trump so that he can use the property for a casino? Can you imagine how crazy that sounds to you? Family vs. casino?

That's Trump's hurdle here.

How many folks here oppose eminent domain wherein private property is transferred to a private person (corporation) but support the Keystone Pipeline? What about the border wall?
