I support Trump and disagree with his views on eminent domain. But he has not backed down on his view. I disagree with his view, but so far, the other pluses out weigh the minuses in this instance. If the issue of eminent domain comes up during his presidency, then I would hope he would become enlightened and at least fight to make certain that there is some ratio of compensation, like maybe 5x market value or some other such thing.
In other words, I would like to see the little guy compensated more than justly for having to give up his meager castle.
So would I, but you know it doesn’t work that way. If some corporation wants to build a shopping center, you’re out on your ass with laughable compensation. The whole reason eminent domain was expanded to private use was so the land-grabbers wouldn’t have to pay fair prices.
